Promote boys properly - the role of the father
Promote boys properly - the role of the father
Are you doing the boys wrong when you say they need special support? Are not boys as good as girls? Of course they are. But at the same time they "tick" differently. This is not a gut feeling, it can be proven. How come that boys need special treatment? You could say that it starts with the genes and the education ends - with plenty of space in between.
The education system is merciless, especially when it comes to statistics. It has been proven that boys are enrolled more frequently than girls later. Also, the rate of "sitting lead" is higher in the boys than in the girls, and that clearly. Almost twice as many boys make an "extra round" during their school career; the A-levels only make up 44 percent of young men, the rest are women. So what can fathers do to support the boys?
Is later really worse?
Of course, support for boys starts even before school enrollment, and the same goes for girls. Nevertheless, the time of enrollment is an important event, which co-decisions on the subsequent career. False paternal ambition can have an effect. Studies show that in many cases it is not wrong to give up school for another year. Boys, who are later enrolled, often have a much better rate when it comes to the repetitions of school years.
Unfortunately, the decision to give up school for another year is not limited to parents or pedagogical staff. The federal states handle the practice differently, but often a medical certificate is required in order to obtain a later enrollment can.
Guys are different - and treated differently
A more than daring thesis that makes many pedagogues's hair stand on end. Only right, if it comes from a father. This is only understandable, because what teacher would like to be accused of favoring girls? Nevertheless, a look at the reality must be allowed. The fact is that especially in the first four years of school, children are taught by female teachers. They in turn respond differently to boys than to girls. Of course, this is neither a deliberate and intentional process, nor should boys be disadvantaged. And moreover, it does not apply to all female teachers alike. In addition, the boys themselves contribute to their being perceived differently by the predominantly female teachers.
Boys are more often loud and dominant.
They are more likely than girls to disturb the class and thereby present themselves.
Being smart is not so important to boys. Surveys showed that later wealth was much more important to them.
It has to be remarked that social ideas of male behavior also contribute to the sometimes problematic views of boys. For fathers, this means teaching the son that not every picture of the man is right.
Looking for solutions, not guilty
The fact that guys are different and are treated differently may be right, but of course there is no solution to that. It's not just about promoting boys in school, but beyond. Nevertheless, for example, a look at the skills in the individual subjects is more than useful. For example, boys usually do worse in spelling than girls do. Incidentally, this is not the case with the lower vocabulary, which is similar to that of girls. But girls are more likely to be introduced to books than boys. As early as 2006, research has shown that girls read more often than boys.
Promotion outside the school
Boys have a strong urge to move. In the age of high screen presence, however, often remains on the track. For the concentration is too long a stay in front of the PC or TV, by the way, not exactly conducive.
Sport is an absolutely appropriate measure to meet the urge to move from boys. As a side effect additional pent-up aggression is reduced.
Peer pressure is often higher in boys than in girls. Courage has always existed, but it is taking on a new form and is sometimes associated with high risk today. Here, too, sport can be an approach.
No boy would admit it, but not infrequently boys feel at a disadvantage to girls. Especially because girls get along better in school, the feeling in boys is reinforced, as having to score dominant male parts. For fathers, it is important to give sons a healthy self-confidence towards the opposite sex. It is not about an up or down, but the understanding that both genders have their rights. With all strengths and weaknesses.
Ultimately, it's always about fathering your son to understand what's important to him. This is certainly not that important in the first grade. Nevertheless, the fundamental questions of life emerge earlier than one thinks as a father. Better, you are prepared. Also to the question with the wealth.
I´m looking forward to your experiences and additions.

I have never really thought about this, but it's quiet true. In the past, lot's of girl's weren't allowed to go to school here in Ghana. As a result, lot's of policies and laws favor girls in school. Boy's are meant to believe they have everything going well for them, so they can't complain.
