Staying in the world of the big ones - where do children gain trust?

Children understand their little environment, but the world of adults is incomprehensible to them for a long time. Andreas Clevert is impressed and fascinated by how much trust children have in the people around them. Because the reasons why they change constantly, a child can not understand. A plea for more understanding for small people.

Sometimes I am standing in amazement before this little man. There you are two years old. Understand the world. Know where you want to go. And where not. What you want to eat and what not. Which toy interests, and which not. Get the stuff where you can, and get help where it does not work.

The little man understands his world. His world. But not this complicated adult world, to which he is constantly exposed.

Here the daycare during the week. As the weekend. The rhythm seems to be tangible. And sometimes illness days, holidays, and everything mix up again. Have you ever explained all calendar absurdities to a two-year-old?

Here comes the babysitter to pick up, as the mom. And on Fridays sometimes the dad. Ever explained why Daddy may leave his office earlier on Fridays?

Again and again changing caregivers - apparently without a scheme

Here one got used to the educator, was actually the dearest of all, and she is already gone again. Ever explained to a two-year-old, what an intern is?

Since it works now reasonably with the Spanish-speaking babysitter. And swollen Maria is gone and suddenly Juana there, without warning. Ever explained to a two-year-old, why such a young girl with a broken heart bang back to her homeland?

And sometimes a caregiver named Grandma and Grandpa, uncle and aunt, cousin and cousin. Dive abruptly and irregularly. Must be loved right away. Handling as with old friends warned. You do not know. Ever explained to a two-year-old, what are family ties?

Would we raise so much trust ourselves?

Therefore we put ourselves more often in the position of the little man. Honestly, would you always get involved if you still lack so much information from this new world? The why and why is simply incomprehensible? No, right?

So remember, when our offspring will be back on the landing and out of the blue, they will not want to go back or forth. Who should blame him? Let us be lenient with our offspring. The basic trust that our child gives us every day in everyday life in the vast majority of situations is overwhelming wonder enough.

Did I forget something? Can you think of any more points?
I´m looking forward to your experiences and additions.

Great article. As an English teacher in Thailand I am forced, due to the nature of my work , to change schools almost on an annual basis. It is an heart-wrenching process because not only did the kids come to trust and rely on me - I also came to love them all dearly.

It's hard to explain to them why I have to leave them. Even I have moments when I cannot understand why I REALLY have to leave too..

Thanks for showing us some insight into the world of our little ones.

Take care.

thx for this amazing Feedback... its good to see we want all the same .. it doesnt matter on which part of this world we are

Wow this is was a great read. I am not a father myself but I definitely can relate with my nephew and niece. They are so happy and joyful in their world and so passionate and caring for others. Kids are the youngest teachers in the world, I have learned how to be a better person because of them. They are not easily manipulated by the “matrix” Definitely love the poetic feel to your post. 🤯✊✊

Sure they are, kiddos shown us as easy this world can be... but the Marketeconomy dont want us in a easy way :D

The longer I work with kids, the more I learn that "consistency is kindness". Consistency helps kids build trust in adults, and helps build trust in their world.
