The Hauntings Soldier statue
Temporary installation in Stephens Green park in Dublin that I stumbled upon. It was a satisfaction that I didn’t expect to see, art, recycling and history combined. Enjoyed some art and learned something new about history.
The statue is here to commemorate the centenary of the ending of World War 1. Martin Galbavy with assistance of C. Hannam created the sculpture at Dorset Forge and Fabrication. The Soldier is made from scrap metal including spanners, car-jacks, brake discs and horseshoes.
It represents each and all who were on the many WW1 battlefields and beyond.
World War 1 ended on 11th November, 1918.

You could find statues almost everywhere. Tribute to heroes and great sacrifices. But this one you shared is quite unique made from scrap metal and the chains on the thighs almost looks like it would move. To me I see the pieces of metal symbolizes parts of the machines that were used in that war. Beautiful artwork. How tall is it?
