@yourhelper Welcomes All Minnows And Newbies To Hard Fork 19 Era
Overview
Some few days back, actually about eight days ago, @yourhelper was born to solve a problem. Indeed a problem that was beginning to constitute a nuisance to steemit community and was threatening this great platform. The problem was so marked that you do not need to read up to three posts in the category "new" without seeing it mentioned in one way or the other. This problem was that of poor earnings by posts made by newbies and minnows irrespective of the quality of post.
This forced obviously over stretched whales and dolphins in the community to strategize on how to surmount a problem that was threatening a community they had built over time; they started proffering different solutions to see how that challenge could be ameliorated. This gave birth to projects like @randowhale voting, @minnowsupport and so on.As more whales got overwhelmed by the request and pleading from minnows and newbies for an upvote, more project geared towards helping them were born.
This challenge gave birth to @yourhelper about eight days ago. @yourhelper was designed by some whales to assist newbies and minnows to get a footing by trying to guide them on how best to survive in steemit community and also trying to upvote quality posts made by them. Indeed it has been a successful project so far attracting a followership of over 200 people in just eight days.
Current Situation After Hard Fork 19
After hard fork 19, a lot has changed. Many minnows can now stand on their own without much support while some still needs that little push to help them stand. @yourhelper is still here to guide you towards a successful steemit journey.

Hardfork 19 Brought Up New Challenges
Yes you can see that posts are earning more now but a new challenge has been thrown up by hardfork 19. Have you noticed that people are no longer upvoting posts as much as before? The reason is simple. You have only 10 votes at 100% per day now unlike before where you have 40 votes. You and me know that sharing 40 votes would be a lot more easier than sharing 10 votes.

Hi, I am a newbie here who joined steemit for about two weeks. HF 19 brought changes and they shocked me, for instance, I feel like my votes give completely no effect before the HF19. Now, at least I can see the number "moved" after my vote.
I still try to figure out how to make myself stronger here, I guess what I can only do is participant, engage and involve. I will try my best to maintain the quality of my posts, hopefully I will success soon.

I am new here and my account is tiny. It was exciting to see a jump in my earnings/account value yesterday. So I like that aspect of HF19.

I never did and never will. I will leave it to the readers to decide if my content is worthy of their votes. In fact, I feel nobody should encourage or entertain people begging for votes. This is the only way we can expect to abolish bad content.

Yes, with my limited knowledge, I think they did a good job. It is important to encourage Minnows and showing them that their contribution is valued, will help boost motivation levels.
If you have your way, how would you have implemented hard fork differently?
Sorry.. not yet in a position to talk about this. Saying anything without understanding the entire process would be undermining the effort and time the witnesses have put in.

hi @yourhelper.... You are spot on...... while there was worldwide minnow excitement last night because upvotes were worth a whole lot more so some of my posts were earning a whopping $10.... the after effects were certain felt. That noone was upvoting anymore. Everyone was tighter with their trigger finger. And that is understandable, with a lot less upvotes available of course people are going to do that. So there was great news.... then there was a brand new problem. But now I am just repeating your words lol....
I have a suggestion.... this is from the days when I ran a successful online forum... there was only tens of thousands of people, not quite like here. But I was able to keep my members motivated in generating thought provoking content that was intended to generate ongoing instructions.... with some threads holding discussions for years that had up to 30000 comments.....
In a nut shell... would it be possible that a post goes back up to the top in the new section every time someone is inspired to comment (comments from the original poster don;t count of course). And with that can work hand in hand with the upvote system.
At present.. a new post can be 30 places down after one refresh. So minnow posts no matter how good will disappear into the bottom of the ocean within minutes, and then they are lost forever.

Would you consider this strategy? It will not take away from the great Whales... But it will certainly give us little ones more exposure.

And here is how I think it can be improved. Used to run and then own an online forum and I did so quite successfully. At the moment my understanding is that a post is pushed down by all posts after that in all sections. And those with the biggest followings get more views and upvotes. That is great and there is nothing wrong with that. However with so many steemiteers now posts barely have a few minutes before they go into the oblivion and never be seen again. Especially for minnows without a huge following.
What I would love to see is posts pushed back up to the top whenever someone comments on them. Not just an upvote... but a comment. I believe that is a fair and justified way to reward a post when it is good enough for people to make the effort to reply to it. And to further make it more effective comment made by the original writer of the post should not have any effect on the post.
I believe that this way, content creation will be less influenced by the clever intentions of just getting upvotes. Instead more focus will be put into creating content that generates more discussion which I believe is better evidence of thought provoking material.
In the days when I ran online forums, this keep people motivated to write content that is not just something they dump into a thread and not think about again. The better the post, the more discussion it generated, and the longer it stayed alive, some great threads stayed near the top where people could see it for years.....
Another suggestion is that, if we resteem something, can there be a space to leave a comment? That is executed perfectly by face book when people share posts and can leave a comment. This is common practice for hundred of millions of people seeral times a day now.
I am new here and do not wish to step on anyone's toes. Can I get some feed back to some of my seniors here on what I suggested.

hello @yourhelper it has become difficult in spite of 200+ followers now a days I'm getting 4 to 5 upvotes previously i used to get 12 to 20 upvotes. but still i upvote 20 people a day as i read that 10 upvoting can be done at 100% after that i think 98% not sure.
But still it does not demoralize me from writing new posts :)

Yes you can adjust percentage of voting power you plan to deploy but this is only for those who have minimum of 500 Sp.

The problem for me is voting, I love to vote and love the posts now I can just reply without voting as I have 10 followers who I really have to vote for. I miss the voting yet still reply to posts as I want them to know I am reading them all. Thank you.

Yes, there seems to be lesser votes, BUT, even with less votes, the post are making better payouts than before... I think people just need to get used to the new voting power, make a new strategy, and the upvotes will grow again...
