RE: You Are What Your Feed Looks Like - Build A Great Feed, Build A Great Community

in #steemit7 years ago

Yes, I agree. On my 1 week on Steemit post, I compared Steemit with network marketing.

  • 👍 Sounds interesting to a LOT of people thinking they might make a buck or 2,
    • 👎 But after spinning their wheels they just give up.

In the first year of operation, a minimum of 50% of representatives drop-out.
After five years of operation, a minimum of 90% of representatives have left the company.
By year 10, only those at or near the top have not dropped out – making it safe to say at least 95% of representatives have dropped out.

And...

To become the defacto social media platform, steemit needs to
focus more on the 95% who will drop out when they realize they likely won't make a dime.
yet who will gladly be "customers" if offered the best of the best social networking platform.

🔑 I think it's important for us to realize Steemit is still in beta phase.

  • This is a grand experiment.
    • They are trying different things to make it better.
      • Some are proving to work and some aren't.
  • I'm trusting the whales to help guide the future of Steemit.
    • To influence more positive changes to the platform.
      • If I didn't, I wouldn't be investing time and energy here...

Ground floor opportunities such as this can be very frustrating.

  • I've been in on many ground floor opportunities that just didn't pan out.
    • 📈 I was involved with a company who would give you free Internet service, if you would let them post some ads in your browser while you surfed.
      • 📉 That didn't pan out, but I just recently read of a company using the same concept to provide free wifi to an area in exchange for serving up ads while you use it.
    • 📈 I was involved with a company where we were splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen gas and injecting that into car intake systems. We had full size Ford pickups getting upwards of 30 mpg. I personally rode in a Honda Accord getting 100+mpg. (Until you turned on the AC, then you only got 70...)
    • 📉 This company was shut down by the FTC. Hmm I wonder why?
  • 📈 I discovered the Internet back in '95, and made a living here until about 2000 as a webmaster
    • 📉 I was on the ground floor. But, I was unable to compete with the big boys who searched out venture capital and got rich on failed ideas.
  • Yes, Ground floor opportunities can be very frustrating,
    • but here I am, doing it again.
      • 😎 Steemit is Too Good To Be Ignored 😎

Yap, I guess we are at ground floor opportunity here, and it does not look promising.

As you said, we can only hope that the whales will help in guiding community towards the positive changes. They have the power to write stuff that could change the mentality of the minnows and I hope that is their agenda.

I think I will try to blog for a few more weeks and see if my list of followers will still be uninterested in my work as they are now. If they only stay interested in who knows what and if the profits will not rise than I guess it will be time for something else because working for cents does not pay the bills.

I will than probably just stick to trading on the exchanges and get me one of those trading bots that do the trading for me so I don´t have to stare at the screen all day 😊
