Post Smarter Not Harder (Original Blog)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I am doing a test right now, and have been testing different kinds of posts lately

For all of my new followers, and loyal supporters, hear me out

The key to success here on steemit is to be consistent, genuine and original.

I have been nearly almost a year on Steemit so here is some advice for you, especially you lengthy writers, such as myself.

This post in particular, and for the majority of this post will have no fancy line breaks, italicised or bold texts

And I give you simply three gifs, one above, one in middle and one below, that I accredit at end of this post

To cut into the meat and bones of this situation I have spent countless hours on some posts and haven't received much input or up votes, and on rare occasions, I put minimal amount of work into my posts and I receive equal to, or more than Steem for these less strenuous, time consuming and mentally straining posts.

Steemit.com is a place where you can not only showcase your skills, talent and knowledge, but it is also a place where you can have fun interacting with the community.

Of course we all know we get paid for pretty much everything we do here in cryptocurrency like curating through up votes, commenting (which can be upvoted) and posting.

This website/blockchain community is ridiculously awesome and the less time I spend working on my posts in terms of presentation, then that means the more I can interact with you all, comment, reply, discuss, collaborate and create.

Now my perfectionist side of me says, well, it's all about first impressions, what if new potential supporters see this post rather than your quality presentable ones?

I would say that my writing alone could hold its own weight and represent me well without all the extra stuff. But I do like to have fun and I enjoy making posts, but sometimes, I simply have no time and I suggest to myself and to all of you, if you are pressed for time, do not spend 5-8 hours working on a post, unless you don't mind.

Steemit is a place where you can work on your craft while you release and mold your ideas. So figure out different post layouts that you have readily available to copy and paste into your Submit A Story post maker and insert the relative information and material and then submit it without spending too much time on detail.

I say this because I have seen others literally post a single picture with a one word meme and make 200-300 Steem and they are not even a big share holder from what can be seen in their wallet.

I don't need to compare myself with others but I simply know that some of my best work has been overlooked and I keep it moving forward and staying positive that more success will come.

When you are passionate and consistent and respectful, success will come. I would only waste more time complaining about certain things I observe which can be labeled as red flags or issues, but the subject is to Post Smart, Not Harder.

It is all about perspective, what you expect to receive from what you put in, share and give to the community and the overall experience attributed to you sharing a part of yourself or of something that interests you.

Even now, this post might be too long for some who don't have time to read this but I am a writer and I just let the words flow on to the page.

I'll end it here with this, don't be too disappointed with a post that didn't do well, but be mindful of how much time you put into a single post. Newer posts and ideas will always come and just test out different things and have fun.

Sometimes success here on Steemit is truly dependent on Who You Know, what you write about, how you write about it, if you have a catchy title or picture, which hashtags you are using, if your writing is readable and grammatically correct for the most part, when you post at what time of the day, and who your audience is and how you are trying to attract new followers.
Keep all these things in mind, and best of success to you all.

Thank you for reading this post in its entirety, I hope you enjoyed it for what it's worth.

I'll still be continuing accepting donations until I can reach my goal to fly out to america with my children and wife to visit my family as it is very urgent indeed.

I've raised $2019 and .14 cents of Steemit Currency in total from both My Posts and Donations from Steemit Community Members this 2017 forward and $95.00 in US Dollar Donations so far towards my goal of $ 6,000.00 (Six Thousand) US Dollars and will keep everyone updated with every new future post that I submit.
This total amount will not only include donations I've received to the Paypal account I've provided: [email protected], but it will also include the Steemit Currency that I accrue/receive from all of my personal posts starting the 1st of January of 2017 forward calculated after a 48 hour time frame is finished for the payout cycle of each post to avoid miscalculating the fluctuating price of Steemit Currency.

For more information on that, please check my New Year's/Happy Bday Post

Thanks sincerely again in advance for all your help, anything and everything helps.

Bullseye! I've only been on for about a month. Although I love writing AND I love interracting with my new steemit friends, I've got a sneaking suspicion that behind my back my family is plotting a coup if I don't find a balance, and quick. l'll try to take your advice and post smarter. I think I need lessons. Haha

Keep checking in on my profile, I will release some more tips and advice soon! Thanks for your input and feedback.

What she said! It takes me a long time to craft a post, especially with finding photos and all that. I'd post a lot more if I could do it faster. If you put out some tips for spending less time creating a post, I'll upvote it twice! ;-) I'm blown away by your ability to post as often as you do.

In the meantime, you've inspired me to come up with some simpler posts to see what happens.

oh you are most welcome my friend, I will work on some advice and tips very soon for this week, don't worry! and thank you for stopping by, I will reply to your other comment on my @peacemaker account when I can, appreciate your acknowledgements, we both can relate to the time length of preparation, sometimes it is worth it, other times it is best to just take it easy but stay consistent :)

I have found this to be true for me as well.

If you are like me, we will steem on, no matter what!

Exactly, keep moving forward and don't fret on the lack of attention. I feel that true artists and creators never feel they are fully compensated for what they share with the world, because inevitably, a price cannot justify what someone gives, especially if it is sentimentally, or emotionally valuable to that person, although the world may not see the worth of it in their eyes. It is a multiway perspective indeed. Steem on my friend!

Yes truly, over half of what I post I don't expect response or payouts, but share my life, or work through things, or just have some fun.

Actually it catches me off guard when I come across people in real life who read what I wrote, almost as I forgot I told the wolrd, lol.

That is hilarious, I have had those same moments as well, we become so immersed in the online world, that when we are running errands and doing day by day things in life, we are oblivious to the fact that we have shared something not only with the community of a particular social media platform but anyone who can google search engine your moniker or screen name and see what you have been up to :)

You are most welcome, I am glad you found this useful

great post, thanks for the encouragement

You're very welcome, glad I could help

Nobody knows if a guild or a pod of whales will have interest in their posts. It happens now and again, which is great, but to count on it daily is to disappoint yourself.

Keep on Steemin!

I completely agree, if you're only here for money, disappointment is unavoidable if you don't have whale support. Keep steemin we shall!

Just take a look at the number of upvotes this post has and the actual dollar value attached to the post. Nuff said.

Yeah, the support may be there, but the voting power isn't. I am grateful for all of the people who support me and my endeavours, they make a difference for sure.

I gotta say, I came for the money at first. I even made a pretty good payout in my first week. @lukewearechange posted a YT video about steemit and I signed up, stars and dollar signs in my eyes.

Then I started interacting in a way with the other steemians that I have never interacted online. I found a great community of people dedicated to this platform and so helpful to each other.

This last year on steemit has made me laugh and cry and given me great advice and made me some lifelong friends. Now, I post my life and my opinion and try to teach others things I have learned and the payoffs are priceless.

I have grown my blog organically and that is also priceless. I now have over 300 following me and almost 500 I am following. The money is small for now, but I know in time that will grow too.

Thanks for sharing and steem on!

That is wonderful to hear, congrats on your success so far, please keep it up as you are a valuable member in our community. To witness growth and share what we can with each other is a beautiful thing and to be rewarded with it in many ways unrelated to currencies. I too have made some great friends and networks, and the opportunities are just beginning! Thank you and you're most welcome, steem on

I agree with you. I noticed that it is about who you know and who your friends are more than the actual quality of the post. Keep writing and steeming on. I have been here 8 months and haven't had many followers or huge payouts but I am happy I was able to donate my sbd to 3 charities or friends in need. That makes it worth it for me.

Beautifully said, I have now followed you with both of my accounts. We can help each other no matter what and it is better to be loyal to each other than the money we can earn here. Money is replaceable but connections aren't. Glad you were able to donate, that is wonderful.

Thanks @verbal-d for the follow. I followed you a while ago. I totally agree with you about loyalty. As the Bible says, we should store up treasures in heaven rather than on earth!

You're very welcome, and I completely agree, our Father in Heaven truly has the best advice. Thanks for the follow

Yep XD

Fortunately (in my case anyway, I know it's different for others) I don't do anything specifically for steemit anyway and money is a nice bonus not an end-goal and the stuff in the posts I spent hours on I would have spent hours on anyway.

Posting smarter is definitely a good idea if most of the posts are pretty intensive :)

And I didn't mind the rambling personally because I kind of talk the same way due to my mind randomly taking off on unexpected tangents when I'm trying to hold a conversation which is why I can never debate about anything (I'm about to do it again so I'm going to shut up now XD).

Do I need tell you it's a good post or can you just accept that you write good posts? :D

Most of the posts I do tend to be pretty intensive so I should follow my own advice lol. Thanks for reading this and yeah if we have the passion then we can power through anything with a bigger goal in mind!
Appreciate your feedback

Great advice, brother! Definitely hard to break through to the top, but the key thing is perseverance. Giving up would only result in your loss, as STEEM will rise without you. Don't get discouraged if it seems you're not making any dent. Just keep on pushing, and eventually it will budge.

Thanks bro, we gotta adapt to every circumstance, and now you sound like me encouraging you when you complain lol

HAHA! LOL I have my moments. I'm always encouraging to others, it's just that I have trouble encouraging myself, s'all. I've read that it's a completely normal psychological phenomenon, so it's all good haha

Yeah we all have our moments indeed bro
