When I first heard of the term "Spirituality", I thought it was something magical. And by magical, I mean LITERALLY "Magick". Now no lies, that was the first thing that brought me over to the world of spirituality. Although when the changed I soon found out that the concept itself is way different than first imagined. Much time has passed since that day, so let me make a small breakdown of what actually "Spirituality" means through my eyes.

The human spirit

When it boils down to the roots of the Spiritual, it get derived from the human spirit. That is where the word Spirit(ual) takes its derivative from.

The human spirit is that moving force that we all have, the one that holds inspiration and the ecstatic feel within itself. The spirit which in some people gets oppressed and dulled due to life circumstances and anything that might have an overall influence over it.

For example, Imagine you just found out that you won tickets to Ibiza, all expenses paid vacation.

You would be ecstatic and at the current moment and forget about anything that is related to your everyday life. But this feeling will fade because your mind will start to bring up obligations and things you need to do. This will suppress the spirit and might bring you to a point where you end up giving the tickets away to somebody else.

Refining the Self

Spirituality is about keeping that ecstatic state of life. It teaches us how to enjoy life a bit more and how we can manage to go through our daily lifestyle without finding so much disappointment. It is not about changing your lifestyle or quitting your job, actually its finding joy from whatever you do and learning how to see things from a more positive source.

People often think that spirituality is about solitude and sitting in a cave for long periods of time, but that is actually where spirituality meets mysticism.

But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost self is the spirit, that it is God, the indivisible. Don't believe me ? Meditate for a while, see how everything stops and there is a peace that comes to the mind. Once you find that, do some yoga, see how more energy comes to the body. Combine both and get peace and energy <3
