Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 5/5/2019 I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com many have came here to discuss the daily Steem price's and changes for just over 2 years now.

I also want to mention just incase your wondering when perhaps something doesn't seem normal from the other regular Price update posts that the daily Steem price posts do occasionally change it's format from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as it's important for your daily plan or strategy and honestly even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and keeping an eye on the price, so without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price Change for 5/5/2019

Should you be trading with Steem today...?

March 10th Steem reached it's highest so far this year at $0.55 along with SBD's which also had a breaker on March/13th with it's highest being $1.41. With Bitcoins they have recently been holding above the $5200 mark, the highest for Bitcoins near the latest upwave which was beat May 3rd was $5778. It was only 3 days ago it climbed and was trying to stay above the $5300 mark but not only was Bitcoins successful at doing this but it had another crazy upwave starting from $5290 which went all the way to $5778 breaking the record and it did it again by reaching $5793. Of course after it went down abit to not too badly at around $5633. But Bitcoins still didn't stop there as even today it beat another record going to $5818. Steem is trying to make it back to $0.40 well.. actually make it $0.35. Steem and it's overall ranking position is around #56 amongst all the other cryptos. As you know we beat the January high marking our highest value at $0.55. These past few days Steem as been presenting themselves with various good opportunities to buy-in since the 24th, we thought it would go back to $0.42 since it's been only about a week since Steem managed the $0.45 mark. But the last few days Steem ended up falling to $0.33. And for today we started slightly lower at $0.34 and only dropped to $0.33 at ⏰08.25 but really there was a decline since ⏰01.20 meaning it was looking like Steem was moving downwards and it did Steem as fallen to $0.32 which we have not seen since the 3rd week in February if it goes any lower there is going to be a really good buying opportunity since the drop on the 24th of April. Anyway if nothing much will happen for Steem in 2019 which is slowly looking more doubtful then I hope those who are still in the game will take the opportunity to keep collecting because right now we are in a seriously good place to grow our accounts remember as the price goes up higher collecting actual Steem becomes more difficult. But Steem is doing so much better then you may realise in BTC value Steem is on its way to make possibly a new all-time low but if you look back and have been here as long as me the lowest Steem has ever been was at $5800 BTC which was way back in March 2017 if you look now we are somewhere around the $6250 mark correct..so last time at $5800 BTC Steem was worth $0.07 but now around 6250 BTC it's still worth $0.34! As for the SPUD initiative.. no not potatoes but (Steem Power Up Day) there was around 980 accounts who powered up a total of 145,430 Steem compared to the average power up per-day of 106,300 Steem, this means some of you are now new dolphins in town, so with myself also included in the dolphin count it means we have now a total of 2000 dolphins!! No longer in survival mode the conclusion from all this is to continue cutting costs Hivemind is live the "steemd" instance size's went from 488GB RAM to 61GB RAM! Focus is on a multi index RocksDB adapter which is a new technology to allow the Steem blockchain nodes to store almost all of it's necessary data to a disk in a modern database instead of RAM the move will make nodes cheaper. Ned said that the cost reduction progress will still remain above the creation of SMT's which I feel is the right move. If you have returned recently to Steemit please be aware that there as been a wallet split to your account so please have your keys backed-up, yes ALL of them and don't use your masterkey to log into Steemit.com instead use your posting key, remember that when you click on your wallet you will be directed to a completely different website which should be "steemitwallet.com" please dont worry as this website is safe and part of Steemit.com. Also yes from now on both logged in and non-logged in users will now see adds on Steemit.com. For SBD's they broke record March 13th reaching $1.41. Currently SBD's are at a "normal" pegged rate, which isn't shifting but still it's better than it was at $0.91 and considering how much Steem dropped the results aren't bad. SBD's started yesterday at $0.97 and today its started at $0.98 which yea sounds good but they were already on a down hill so went to $0.97 as we have seen for the last 3 days but like Steem the SBD's also continued going down. SBD's fell to $0.96 by ⏰01.25 it recovered back to $0.97 at ⏰04.20 which SBD's held-on till before dropping to $0.96 again at ⏰08.05. SBD's stayed at $0.96 with two falls to $0.95 at ⏰10.10 and for about 40mins from ⏰14.35.
