Getting Steemit back on track!

As we watch this market slide lower and lower into the red it has shown me who the true steemians really are, the ones who enjoy steemit for what it is meant to be, a social media site, not the ones who just came for the money.

Lately I have watched the shit spammy posts melt away more and more by the day as the prices here drop. The material has actually started to get much better and incredibly easier to find. Steemcleaners seems to be having a much easier job now days, I guess people don't find it worth wild to plagiarize or rip people off as much anymore which makes this platform leaps and bounds better.

Like most people I wasn't happy when SBD first stopped printing and Steem dropped below $1(usd), but there have been some bonuses people don't really tend to notice. First of all It seems people aren't really using bidbots and paid upvote services nearly as much which means they don't think it is worth it anymore. I for one think that makes this Steemit so much better. Not so many shitty trending posts or getting fooled into opening a crap post because of a high dollar count and most people stopped trying to race through the steemit profile ranks soley by paid upvotes.

I try not to hate on bidbots to much because like politics there really is no winning that conversation, you can't change someones mind on it no matter what reasoning you may have so I will make this really quick. For me, I see bidbots taking more than giving on this platform. I don't mind people paying for upvotes at all, what I do mind is the millions upon millions of delegated SP that goes to bidbots every single month. Because of supply and demand the prices have been way to high for normal users like me to rent monthly delegations just to give out bigger upvotes (through curation) to other steemians who actually deserve it, not just the people willing to pay for it. I know, I sound like a selfish person who hates this platform LoL..

I would imagine with SBD not printing right now that bidbots will start disappearing sooner rather than later which will cause the price to rent delegation to go back down and in turn allow normal minnows/dolphins to start buying up delegated SP again and really start rewarding the steemians who deserve bigger upvotes and haven't been getting them.

Things have been out of whack for a while on steemit, I have been here for a year and when I started I was the 297,466th person to join but there were about 60,000 active users. Now there are well over 1.1 million people who have signed up for Steemit but we are only averaging 56,000 active users!? That means we have gained about 4 times the amount of people in the past year but somehow are down on active daily users from one year ago, how is that possible? We need to get back to the heart of steemit, the community, and leave the bidbots and false advertisement of "getting rich quick" behind.

So as hard as it is to see these low prices, I think it is really cleaning up the riffraff on steemit and that is a good thing if you are here for the long run. I think everyone who came here for nothing but money is being pushed away and to be honest they are probably the same ones spreading FUD about cryptos and causing so much negativity around here.

I truly believe this cleansing was much needed and I don't care how long it takes. We need to see who the true believers are and we need to rid this platform of the ones who are willing to ruin the platform purely for personal gain. Fuck those people!

WE STEEMIANS WHO LOVE THIS PLATFORM ARE THE ONES WHO KEEP IT GOING THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND BAD AND IN THE END WILL BE THE ONES WHO ARE REWARDED FOR OUR BELIEF IN IT.

I completely agree with you about the "good stuff" being easier to find now. The idiots who throw up one crappy phone photo of some piece of total tripe and then bid-bot it for $150 don't even have the ambition for that any more.

In the same way hard times can show you "who your real friends are" -- these lean times on Steemit can show you who your real colleagues are ... the people who love what they do, who take pride in their content, who keep supporting and curating the good stuff they find, and who want to see Steemit succeed because it is such a fabulous concept -- those people are still around. Still posting. Still voting. Still determined to make it through to the next upswing -- which, if history holds, will be even more dazzling than the last.

Bitcoin didn't start out at $6000+. @shadowspub wrote that she remembers when Steem went down to $.07 a while after she joined. As I said to her the other day, I keep telling myself they can't close the place down if enough of us refuse to leave.

So lock arms and dig in. There are better days coming.

I loved this part, so true!

I agree that this next upswing will be even more amazing than the last one and that is what I keep trying to explain to people who haven't been in the crypto space very long..

LoL, I'm with you on locking arms and digging in! They can't get rid of us just because of low price, they will have to try a lot harder than that!

Great comment, and thank you for all the support.. :)

This is a good post, highlighting the importance of not using this platform to get rich. I had noticed the price droopy some of my posts over the past week, but hadn't thought anything of it, until I read a post from someone specifying just how far the value of Steem had dropped. Can't say I really care, I just enjoy the community of this place - much better than some of the other social media crap out there!

I totally agree with you there my friend.. the rewards are just a bonus, the community here is unlike any other social media platform ive ever been on and i love it! Glad to hear there other people who are on the same page..
Thanks for the comment, following u 😁

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

So as hard as it is to see these low prices, I think it is really cleaning up the riffraff on steemit and that is a good thing if you are here for the long run.

I totally agree @moderndayhippie. I've noticed the number of spam accounts have really dropped although yesterday, for some reason, I sent more than forty I came across to Steemcleaners.

That is the first time I've sent anything to Steemcleaners for weeks so it was a bit of a surprise.

I'm also enjoying being able to find decent content more easily.

Plus I've been able to buy some Steem. So, for me, the low price is not such a bad thing. 😁

Glad we are on the same page :) And congrats on buying more steem at low prices, I know you won't regret that at all in a few months!

I have never used steemcleaners, what do you do? I heard you get paid sometimes too? Seems like a great idea but I never bothered looking into it cuz I'm lazy when it comes to things like that lol..

Steemcleaners is much easier to use than it used to be @moderndayhippie. You just go here and report the link:

http://steemcleaners.com/reports/new

You can get paid but I didn't get anything for the 40 or so accounts I reported recently so I don't know what the criteria for payment is. I have been paid in the past. It's not much but it feels quite satisfying when it happens.

As I mentioned in my comment I see far less spam these days so don't use it as much as I once did.

Hmm, interesting for sure.. thanks for the info 😁

I view my bot usage as an investment honestly. I try not to buy a ton of votes for my shit posts but if I think I have written a good one I'll spend a bit trying to get it out there in front of people. Otherwise I'm just buried under all the shit posts and no one is ever going to see me. Life's too short to spend a bunch of time working on a post just to get $0.07.

I am not hating, I understand how terrible it is to pour your heart and soul into a post just to make a few pennies trust me I have been there too! But what you don't understand is this place use to be much more generous with upvotes before bidbots took over. If I had a good post I could make $5 - $15 on it easily without paying for any upvotes. Its hard to explain but the best example I can come up with is like an addict (I speak from experience). Addicts know the drugs aren't the answer for life in the long term but they know it works good and makes them feel good right now, regardless of the fallout later and how it may hurt other people (like family/friends aka the steemit community) if they do it. The quick high fades fast and soon they are paying for upvotes on all of their posts which honestly drives away more people than it sucks in because those people (like me) are like wow great article, but someone else already upvoted it huge so fuck it, I will save my upvote for someone who appreciates it.. I know it sounds weird but this is my personal thoughts on the situation after trying it both ways. I know many disagree with me and that is fine, that is how the world always works. ;) Good luck with and steem on!

I too remember the days when I got $30 votes. That was in the earliest days of the platform, when you only had 24 hours to get your votes. Of course I didn't really understand the way it worked, so I never powered up or anything. I just let everything sit in savings for almost a year before I did any research. By then everything had changed and gone were those days. Now I am trying to play catch up. :(

very true, except I believe thy will be back as soon as the price rises! after all that was the intention, get as much money as quickly as possible!

I agree, which sucks.. but all the people who are here now are going to be way ahead of those people and have already developed stronger communities with the steemians who stuck it out.. We are all stronger because of it regardless of what all the money suckers are doing lol..

agreed 100%, ignore them and carry on regardless! :)

You're right, at the very least, this drop is a nice natural experiment. I would have thought it could go either way. Either shitposts would drop because it's not profitable or more shitposts since quality content isn't worth writing. Happy to see that a lot of the quality posters are either here for the long term or are writing for more than just profit.

I was wondering the same but it seems the true steemians have stuck it out for now.. Its been a nice change of pace for sure after all the shitty posts for so long..

Yep, this cleansing is painful but it is really was what was needed to find out what was really important on this platform. However, I worry that when STEEM regains strength, nothing structurally will have changed and the platform will revert back to its old habits...

I do agree with you on that unfortunately.. I guess we will just have to wait and see.. I am crossing my fingers and hoping we are wrong tho! lol

I upvoted and I am not a bot. ;)

Nice rant. The stats about active Steem users are interesting. I had no idea, but you make several good points.
I say good riddance to the spammers and greedy money grabbers.

I say good riddance as well! They are about to miss out on the biggest year ever for steemit! Since HF20 and SMT protocal now have release dates it is only a matter of time before steem really moves up in the crypto world :)
