Why is it taking so long to approve new accounts?
This is just a quick update that I might add to later since I'm writing it on my phone.
But I wanted post this because I do feel like I keep seeing this problem come up in comments, as well as from my own friends who I've convinced to sign up for Steemit.
People are demanding alternatives to the current supremacy of Big Tech and they're actively looking for those alternatives.
Steemit enjoys a "first mover" advantage of sorts, but that won't last long as time passes and if profile verification doesn't scale with demand. SMTs certainly could serve to preserve and build Steem's value, but that doesn't help with onboarding people to Steemit.
I'm not saying anything new that people on here don't already know. But, as I continue on my journey on this platform, it's something I myself have noticed.
