WHAT IS STEEMIT?

Well, the answer to the question "What Is Steemit?" is it is exactly what ever you want it to be. Use it how you see fit.

If you want to write blogs then great, that's something that's the best way to use Steemit. You can of course just share images if you want but that is something that it is not geared up for so well. And you can just social share if you want.

The thing is though because Steemit is reward based you are going to get members who will want to tell you how you should be using Steemit. Yes Steemit is best used as a blogging social, does that mean you can't then come across an interesting article, copy a few lines and an image and share with your followers, of course not, but you are going to come across members who just have nothing better to do other than to try to educate you on how you should be posting and tell you that what you are doing is wrong. It's not providing you give full credit and a link back to the source.
It's no different than seeing a new movie trailer on YouTube and putting in on your feed. It's a social share, Steemit is a social site

We even have a number of bots who will scan your content and then tell you if they think you are doing something wrong.

As long as you write a few lines and give credit then it's all good.

If you do come across the Steemit police then just then don't sweat it, they are looking for a reaction from you and that is the last thing you want to be giving them.
