We need a Mentions Tab function on Steemit! With Realtime Notications. To Communicate each other faster & easier, to help things get going faster for the STEEM community, to achieve Mass Adoption for Cryptocurrency, making Steemit the power driver!

Hi Stemians,

So, in continuation with my previous idea on how great it would be to create a direct an "invite a friend button" on steemit, to help spread the word easier, faster and in a unified way (with great marketing efforts to make the potential new stemians receiving the email), to really understand steemit and steem, and thus give it a try ( https://steemit.com/steemit/@gold84/we-need-an-invite-a-friend-button-on-steemit-together-with-its-infrastructure-this-will-accelerate-the-growth-of-the-steem ), today I want to refer to another feature that I am convinced it can be a great contribution for steem and steemit, because it will help communicate with each other faster, easier, and will also help get things going faster (New projects, projects in process, and other important things for the community).

This feature I believe will have a strong power for the community, is a "Mentions" tab, exactly as the "comments and replies" exist on steemit now. How useful it would be to have mentions, to communicate faster between each other, and get projects and important things running even faster.

So what if we could just see on the tabs (at the right of the: "Mentions" tab) a number 1, 2, 3, ..., 10 or more displaying the amount of mentions we are having, and once we click on mentions, it would display all the posts and comments were we are being mentioned. Also, how long ago, seconds, minutes, hours, days, etc. Same as for comments, posts. Also the possibility to click on each of them, and go directly to the context of the mention. This could be a game changer.

Many times we are replying comments we got from stemians, days later, weeks later, or even months later. This is partly because their is not a function showing as on realtime, that we got a mention. With mentions like this, we could quickly focus and check if our precense or answer would be helpful in someones post, and could act quickly. Sometimes it is someone asking a question on his own post, sometimes its someone telling you have done a great job on something. Sometimes is someone that found out that something you developed can be improved. With this type of communication, things can be solved faster, we can act faster, and the entire communication cycle can be closed faster.

At the time there are a few ways to look mentions that happen on steemit, however, we need to go to other sites to know about them. Some of this mentions site are currently not working, and some are working but they dont show this in real time. And some of them perhaps do it, however, they may not be the easier way for the normal user to understand and do it. To go mainstream faster, I believe that a native mentions area on Steemit showed be added, so all the steemit community can make the best usage of it, and it can help all of the community grow and improve.

@starkerz and @stephenkendal are very involved in the business part of Steemit, and I am learning a lot about them, in regards all the business strategies and actions they are doing. Their thoughts will be much appreciated on this. I anticipate I appreciate all their support for the steemit community, and their support towards my posts.

@stephenkendal is a powerful promoter of steemit. I definitely recommend you to follow him. Here is my research on the current status of a mentions function for steemit. All of this are external sites that perform this. Some are working and others aren't currently working (or at least did not work when I tested them today Nov 17th 2017).

All this ideas, concepts and real sites are a great job done by its devs. It would be great if they can use their forces together to finally get to do this natively for STEEMIT.

What are your thoughts on this steemians?

@shayne wrote about an app that tells us who is speaking about us on steemit. This is the https://mentions.steemdata.com/ created by @furion. This site is currently working very well, thanks @furion for developing it, and @shayne for letting us know about it. The only thing is that I could not see realtime mentions on it. Perhaps I do not know how to use it and @furion can explain it better for all of us.

@scrooger explains https://autosteem.learnthis.ca , another site to see who mentions who. It also has other interesting uses. Something like this site would be great to see on a steemit TAB, just as: blog, comments, reply, it would also be great to see: "Mentions" there and start getting numbers: 1, 2, 3, ,..., 10, 20, realtime, so we can check who mentions our name fast, go and click to the exact please they mentioned as to get in context and then, can act fast, and help things get going faster.

Here is a great post from @thekyle who shows how to use www.asksteem.com . Even if this is a very useful site to get a good idea about mentions, it is done externally and could not see a realtime function. Other stemians like @stephen.king989 mentions he would like to get phone notifications of mentions.

@fleuri created a browser extension to see realtime mentions called "Steemification". Not sure if currently working. I downloaded it, and set it up, but still did not see any notifications. Here is his full post in case you are interested. Would be great if we can get something like this but inside steemit, something with a simple understanding way to see mentions, and go fast to were the mention was made, just exactly as comments and replies are shown and the way they are connected.

@blueorgy mentions another site to see mentions. Actually he developed that one, after @cryptos brought it back to his attention ("Mentions with a quick list of posts where your username was mentioned"). The site is: http://steem.cool/mentions .
Just checked and the site is not currently working at this time. Perhaps it is running somewere else. I believe @blueorgy can tell us more about it. And for instance if mentions were natively working on steemit now, @blueorgy would see this, and could update us faster about what is going on.

@benniebanana also made a site intended for realtime mentions lookup: http://flairr.co.za/steemitmentions/ . I checked and believe it is not working for the moment. So, you see all the devs I mentioned that are or were involved on a Mentions function. If the mentions tab would be working now, they would have received a notification that they were mentioned, and they can reply with answers, possible solutions, current status, etc.

All this I am writing is because I truly believe that steemit will grow, and it will climb a lot, and if we can improve this type of interface things even more, I believe it will add even more power for the community, developers, and everyone involved in making this a real winner faster, and even more than this, the main aim to enpower people, return the control and power to the hands of people, that is were it belongs to. This is what @teamsteem mentions on his welcome to steem post, and the values that @dan and @dantheman have for the steem blockchain technology.
