Top #11 List - Discovering Steemit's Most Gifted Creative Thinkers - Curated by @cabelindsay

Looking at the most recent posts of the top 200 Steemians (Listed by Reputation Score), minnows like me can get a fair glimpse of Steemit's trailblazers and innovators. After searching through yesterday's shuffle, I had the pleasure of assembling my first deck: “The Original Top #11 List”, discovering Steemit's most radical creative thinkers.

Introducing The Original Top #11 List

What Are My Favorite Takeaways Among Today's Top #11?

The street artists of Paris are still actively making this the most decorated city, led by Invader, a Paris local, who created a new pixelated piece: Bugs Bunny. Certain U.S. cities are pushing out the food trucks while other cities are pulling them in–I'm on the side of pulling them in! And, The Standing Rock Movement continues to ripple forward, through permaculture actions designed for the good of seven generations (roughly 300 years).

#11. Food Truck Vendors Fight For Their Right To Serve by @doitvoluntarily

Here in Austin, Texas, we welcome our food trucks, siding with Oregon and California, according to the article above. We celebrate our food trucks with a city-wide festivals in their honor. Food trucks are frequently the starting places for eventual brick-and-mortar restaurants. Food trucks give local restaurateurs the ability to “test-drive” their concepts, while establishing a customer base. It happens right before our eyes, and we gobble it up! Austin people love our food trucks.

#10. ESTEEM: The Real Reason Steem Was Invented And Why You're Not Earning Rewards by @stellabelle

@stellabelle is fast becoming my fave. This article presents @dantheman (the inventor of Steemit) in a favorable light, revealing the original intention of Steemit: vigilance. Our favorite new social media platform is like a candle in the dark, or a lighthouse, enabling us to keep careful watch for possible danger or difficulties, so we can collectively expand our awareness and rise up to support our brothers and sisters as a whole (well, this is my hope). Steemit gives free-speaking people a fair playing field, a platform to stand on, and an amplifier!

#09. Paris: The Ups, Downs, Transformation, Beauty, And Love... by @rok-sivante

Another one of my early favorites here on Steemit is @rok-sivante. I first discovered him with an article about his transformative ayahuasca experience (spirituality is my all-time favorite subject matter). This travel blog shares some stellar shots of Paris, highlighting street scenes with art everywhere, including the artwork of Paris' local street art hero: Invader. Brings me back to a trip I took to Europe, seeing the artwork of the Louvre, the Orsay Museum, the street musicians... Art galore, glorious art!

#08. Engineered Surf Break, Number One by @creatr

My introduction to @creatr let me know that he and I think alike. A lot. I dig the surf references in this article, and the Jesus reverence! His “Creatr” spirit is brilliant and beautiful to me. I told him: “To me, the Creator created us with the ability to create, and this is where I find great passion in life.”

#07. Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden by @gardenofeden

I've actually visited the Garden of Eden first-hand, during a film tour a few years ago. I was filming a documentary on the subject of parenting, called Wild Family, and so naturally I sought and found @quinneaker and Inok. In fact, we enjoyed a delightful sustainable feast together during our visit. If you've read my previous posts, you know that I have great appreciation for Quinn and the community there at the Garden. I admire their talent for upcycling (creating a product of a higher quality or value than the original)–this is the ultimate form of sustainability. In some circles, this would be called “transmutation”: turning something negative into something positive.

#06. Eclipse Dapples :: WTF is a "dapple"? by @winstonwolfe

I imagine all of us have seen the strange photographic effect that the solar eclipse presented: dappled shadows with the shapes of crescent moons in them. This makes no sense to me, but I've seen enough proof to know it's real. Does anyone of you have a proper explanation for me? I'd love to know. In case you haven't seen the photos I'm talking about, check out the above article. The @winstonwolfe collection is as good as any I've seen.

#05. Two heads are better than one: Co-teaching in the high school classroom. by @hanshotfirst

Really happy to find this guy @hanshotfirst, a teacher. He makes me think of my dad, an elementary art teacher, a man who I admire like the sun, moon, and stars. The article here is about children with special needs, and the writer's recommendations for creating space for them to flourish in the classroom alongside other kids their age, facilitated by two teachers. I commented: “Co-teaching makes great sense for students with special needs, allowing them to learn and grow alongside their peers. And I imagine the other students benefit in environments like this too. We sent our third-grader to his first day of school today, and we're happy to see the diversity in his classroom. These ideas of yours are thoughtful and thought-provoking too.”

#04. Bitcoin Kettle Corn Food Porn Photo Shoot by @lily-da-vine

This article is the curveball in the Top #11 List. Honestly, there's not much substance, but I love the sentiment. At first glance, it looks like a dozen pictures of popcorn. After a second look, I see that this is an artistic way of referencing the entertaining spectacle that is the Bitcoin fork. “Where's the popcorn?” is a way of laughing at ourselves for our little obsessions. It's funny to me, and also fun. Oh, and after a third look, I discovered this is chai flavored popcorn, so I am looking forward to the recipe. :)

#03. A Tree for Tree Tuesday by @boxcarblue

I told @boxcarblue this post is a breath of fresh air. I'm sure you can relate! So much of Steemit is stuffy and serious. So much is dark and dismal. So much is robotic and pedantic. And then there are posts with life force. Posts with viva! Something in this one struck me on an emotional level, helping me to be present, and peaceful. I told the writer: “I appreciate the way you've captured the moment so gracefully.” I believe this is haiku poetry (traditionally three lines), with a subtle difference because it has two variations in the middle line (if I'm interpreting it correctly).

#02. Outback Steakhouse Style Brown Bread (FOOD PHOTO SHOOT) by @gringalicious

The only thing I dislike about this article is the title, because it misleads from the greatness of the content. To me, Outback Steakhouse is a “hard to swallow”, figuratively and literally speaking, because it's a mass-produced chain of mass-produced meat for massively indulgent masses. Sorry. I'm sure the restaurant is OK for some of us, but I know the Australian Outback has much better offerings out there. Back to the article, @gringalicious is clearly a top talent here on Steemit. Just look at her photos, and her choice of words, and her intentions, and... She is so sophisticated. Am I right? This is the first time I've seen her posts, and now I know what a quality food article looks like.

#01. The Indigenous Wisdom and Permaculture Convergence - Bryan Deans & How to Create a Better Future for the 7 Generations to Come by @anwenbaumeister

My top discovery appears much more amateur than the sophisticated article above. However, the message resonates with me. This article is about our nation's indigenous people, and the wisdom and willpower that drives them to sustain life for seven generations. The first photo looks like the interior of an Earthship, which immediately perks my interest. Looking further in to this post, I found many reminders of the Standing Rock Movement, which I participated in first-hand as a water protector. This was my first time really stepping into the action and doing my part to serve the people. I shared with @anwenbaumeister a preview of the documentary film I recorded at Standing Rock last Fall:

Thank You

To all of the Steemians listed here, I thank you from the bottom to the top of my heart. You inspire me. Your leadership on this great platform is worthy of recognition, my brothers and my sisters. I hope you feel my peace, love, and respect. Aho.

Cabe!

What can I say? Thank you, I'm feeling very honored right now...

I love your unusual choice of eleven... Who does things by elevens? Cabe does! ;)

😄😇😄

@creatr

That's how I roll, dawg! Just trying to keep things fresh, and also remembering a certain scene in a film about rock and rollers (forgetting the name of the movie), where there's a volume knob on the amplifier that goes all the way past 10, to 11–that's the ultimate. ;)

we appreciate you @creatr !

THANK you, friend! :D

Thank you for being!

Hey thanks for the shout out. Hope life is better than ever and you make it back to Eden one day!
SteemON!
