I would like to introduce Confetti to steemit but before I go on I want to fill you in on the hows and whys...

It's been almost a week now since @pennsif hosted his radio show and had all us UK steemians brainstorming over a virtual cup of tea and scones. The chat was lively and the ideas came in thick and fast about how to increase the UK steemit scene. To say our numbers only total a poultry 100 I was surprised by the amount of energy in the room that night.

On the night we had all sorts of characters, ranging from film directors, photographers, musicians and general bloggers like myself and we were all eager to throw our tuppence into Pennsif's proverbial hat. After three hours of intros and chit-chat, the night was over and I left with a positive feeling, I also realized that I need to pay more attention to what's happening in my own backyard. It became apparent that I have been missing out on reading some cracking posts and overlooked some very talented and enthusiastic Brits, all keeping the UK flag flying high.

One Steemian, in particular, is @basilmarples and if you haven't already seen his amazingly funny movie, titled "Paul is dead", then I suggest you take a 13-minute detour after reading this post and go check it out.

Not only was it great to see and hear such a diverse group of active steemit members it also went along nicely with the tuppence I had thrown into the hat earlier on in the show. So this brings me on nicely to blowing my own trumpet and I hope the idea I have to show you all will sound like sweet music to your ears...

I live in a fantastically creative part of the UK named Nottinghamshire. Due to the inherent talent on offer in this great city, we have one of the most awesome media arts colleges the country has to offer. I myself have been a student here, once upon a time, after enrolling on one of its music production courses. However, it isn't just music that Confetti helps tutor the next generation on...

We’re Confetti

We’re a specialist creative industry institute part of Nottingham Trent University and our Creative Quarter campus is home to the very best technology, studios and equipment, industry-connected tutors and over 1600 passionate and committed students. Our graduates go on to careers in music, gaming, TV, film, live events, graphic design and many more.

At Confetti, we offer courses at varying levels to suit a range of academic abilities, but what unites all our students and tutors is a passion for creative technology. We then use our skills, experience and industry links to help turn that passion into real job options. Find out more by discovering our range of college courses, foundation and three-year honours degrees, and postgraduate degrees or coming along to an open day.

The equipment and experienced tutors on offer have helped many brilliantly talented youngsters realize their potential and it is this hive of up and coming stars I would like to invite onto the steemit blockchain.

Over the next few days (or maybe weeks if that's what it will take) I intend to devise a way to approach this college and offer them the oppertunity to tap into the steemit blockchain. This must be a most-cunning plan and one that would be able to impress the slyest of foxes.

I know from personal experience that educational institutes are very wary about introducing youngsters to anything that may not be easily safeguarded and I would like your input as to how I should overcome this proverbial hurdle...

So do I just ask to be able to hand out some simple flyers and keep my introductions to a minimal...? Or maybe, once I have gained accsess to the communal room under the guise of a student who is just looking to enroll on a course, I should just go full-retard and blaze both barrels at anyone in earshot...? But then again that probably isnt the wisest of things to do and a more professional approach could be more effective...

Steemian unite!!

I need your input on how to do this. Any links you may have to some simple steemit-guides would be a great help. Do any of you have any good Dtube videos that would serve as a good example of what we have to offer? And lets not forget Dsound either! My point is that we have a wealth of features to blow the socks off this crowd and if this can be pitched in the right way then I am sure I can double the number of UK steemians.

All I need now is a little help from my steemit-friends...

Peace to you and yours and I look forward to hearing your suggestions

This sounds a great idea and approaching promo-steem for their ideas also sounds like a great idea. At steemfest, I came across steem.film where filmmakers have just made their first film funded through steem and are now in the process of submitting it to film festivals (@brian-rhodes has great posts about the process). I know a young person doing a filmmaking course at Nottingham Trent that I'll be talking to them about steem.film, perhaps there is a way to build on this?

Thanks for the input and your suggestions are good to hear. I think this is a good angle to take when promoting steemit. Hopefully, we can push the UK numbers through the roof by this time next year.

Confetti does look like a good place to approach.

Maybe connect with @nickyhavey for his Bluffers Guide.

@anarcotech of @oracle-d has just returned from Indonesia but it would be great to make contact with him. He will be pretty busy at present but he was one of the founders of Promo-Steem and is a very keen musician.

The next UK Steem Virtual Meetup is on Thursday 29 November. Would you like to talk through ideas for this then?

Thanks for the input and I'll try link up with those you suggested. Hopefully have some good news for the next UK show.

Looking forward to hearing more...

Wow, sounds like a great move.
I'd consider talking to someone at @promo-steem about techniques to find a way in and promote Steem in an approachable and effective way.

Perhaps @cryptocurator (Halifax, UK based) might be able to point you in the right direction? He's been really involved in the promo side of Steem.

I like the sound of Confetti - it's the kind of place I would have loved growing up!

I will try and get in touch with those you have mentioned, thanks :) I feel very positive about this but feel the need for a professional approach to be taken. Thanks again for the input, it is much appreciated.

Yep I have written a introduction/overview post to steemit in one of the chapters in my Bluffer's Guide to Cryptocurrency.

Here's the only part so far I have written for steemit but hope it provides some use!

Thanks @nickyharvey! This looks a very interesting link, I will be sure to check this out.

Let me know, there are links to other parts of the blog series at the end and you may find it useful as well as I take it all the way back to the basics. There is no technical language whatsoever - that's the life of a Bluffer haha

I've got a free day tomorrow to look through this. It sounds like my kind of guide ;)

Haha! It may be a little rough in places but it was written with love as a proof of concept. Still got a little bit more to do but it's a friendly monster 😁 did want to turn it in to a full blown pdf at some point but think it will never end really haha

Sounds like we have similar problems with keeping work/writing to a minimal but somethings just have to added. I remember some of my first steemit posts taking days to write and edit. I'm looking forward to reading your work, buddy, and it seems I may need to keep the kettle on the boil :D

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by Rebel Dan from the Minnow Support Project.
