I have been here a couple of weeks but other than writing my posts I really still do not know what I am doing. I need some help!! Can someone please take some time to explain things like HF-19 to me? What does it do? How do I join, if there is such a thing? How would it benefit me and how can I benefit others with it?

Yes, I have up-voted other's posts, resteemed, commented and even promoted. I have followed several. And today I joined The Homesteader Life Community. But I am still unsure of what else I can do to build up followers and get up-votes on my own posts. Some have virtually nothing. A couple did pretty well. I don't know what I am doing right or wrong. Heck, I just don't know what I am doing. I really want and need to build this up, for myself, for the money, for the whole sha-bang!!

Will you please take me by the hand and teach me the ropes?? I want to help myself and be a help to others also.

Please lend a helping hand to this little itty bitty minnow.

I believe HF-19 wa s simply a change in the amount of steem % taken off when you vote. It went up

Don't worry to much we all just started in the THL and you will get there ok.just keep doing your best to post good material and upvote others leave good comments and resteem. Im seeing this because you tagged it thl

LOL yes I did. I read your instructions and will tag all my posts from now on. :-)

7 vote in 30 min is an improvement right there.

I have been so busy replying to all the wonderful people who have commented I did not even notice the up vote count, LOL. it is a help and blessing so many are responding. What an encouragement!!

I'm new here too but there is definitely some great advice from the community. The hard fork that happened isn't something that you opt into. It's a permanent change for the whole community. I think the best way to grow anything is organically, so just focus on commenting and engaging with content that you resonate with and start to interact with others. Focus on the community and the funds will follow later.

Just followed ya!

I am new too but I think you are doing everything you can do. I am doing all of that too.

Seems like there is a lot for this old gal to learn here, but I am not about to give up, LOL.

Consistency is a way to success :)

Thank you!! I just want to really learn everything I can.

Just keep doing what you are doing. It takes time to build up followers and get a following. Just stay involved. If you post they will come! 🤗

Thanks!! I guess when I see so many posts saying they have this many followers or they made x number of dollars their first week, it makes me scratch my head thinking I might have done something wrong, or not enough of the right stuff? But I will keep plugging along. :-)

Hello @alicemarie and welcome - looks you're doing pretty well or at least better than average.

I'm realizing I need to have shorter, more frequent posts and maybe need to think more clearly about when I'm posting them. I had a small success yesterday, so I'll try posting at the same time today :)

I don't even have half of your followers! Keep it up!

I was thinking the same thing last night: I should probably focus on limiting the word count to my posts unless they absolutely need to be long.

Agreed. Don't burn yourself out too early in the game.

To draw a parallel, I've seen some awesome high end 3d videos on youtube get weak views. Then some other "animator" draws stick figures and swears a lot and he'll get millions of subs and tens of millions of views. Why? Because the guy who's posting easy to create, consistent content gets people's long term attention better.

I need to keep things simple, frequent and consistent :)

Best wishes!!!

I usually just post once a day except Sundays. Today I am killing time waiting on a delivery so have time to post a little more. I truly thought I was lacking because I read so many posts where people are doing 1000 times better than I am. I did join the homesteader life community and that increased my followers quite a bit,

Homesteading is awesome. I'm going to follow along! :)

Have you joined the community, The Homesteader Life? go to @thehomesteaderlife I am sure they would love to have you there, if you are not already. :-)

Haven't done so. Moved to the outskirts of a city recently and homesteading seems like a distant goal. Although I'll check it out just the same. :)

I consider myself an urban homesteader. Really want to be out in the country more but not sure if that will ever really happen. You don't have to be a homesteader to join the group, they welcome everyone.

What is the reason you are here?
What do you hope to accomplish?
If it is mainly to earn money I can't help but I am finding so much useful information that can only be handed down from people who have experience and are willing to share that this, to me, is worth worlds of knowledge.

I have multiple reasons and yes money is a big part of it. I love to write about things in my life. My ceramics and pottery, my family genealogy and although I have not done it yet, my desire to be an off grid homesteader. I used to write 4 blogs every day on web sites I had. I loved it, but have since let the sites go, it was costing too much for not making anything and I do have to make a living. At least here I can still write and hopefully make some money in the process.

I would try to get involved with the writing/story/fiction groups and find inspiration there.
I find the off grid/homesteader/chicken/survival groups the most informative.

I first began by trying to send in one of the stories I wrote for my grandchildren and it has had almost no attention. The kids love to have me read the Chick Stories over and over.......and over

Since it was my first post I couldn't figure out how to format it and add the images so it is here now
http://july4jesus.org/chicks/Fox.shtml

Should I to post it again?

I read your story, it is very good. I'm not sure if they let you repost but if you do, put something at the top that it is a repost, that you added pictures and corrected the formatting or something like that.

I'm new too. My focus right now is simply on creating content that I think can add value for people and upvoting content (and commenting on posts) that I find value in. Slow and steady growth here. I think a focus on genuine connections will be beneficial.

Thank you! That is pretty much what I have been doing. I just kind of feel like I am at a very slow crawl though. I read about all these people doing 100 times better than me in their first week and I wonder what their secret is, ya know?

Good post. Creating good content is THE ONLY way to be successful here. I suggest commenting on people that you follow and creating connections via interests that you hold. People are likely to follow you and read your posts if they see a person who puts in effort and is speaking about things they are interested in. The new fork is just basically a new way that the rewards system is going to be adjusted as Steemit is a growing platform and as more users join the community will demand more equality for content creation. But in my opinion there is no substitute for creating good content and following people whose stuff you like reading. Leave comments and you will gain followers who are like-minded or who appreciate what you have to say. Otherwise follow some people who are into blogging about Steemit itself and tou will find all the details you desire. Good luck and STEEM-ON!

Thank you so much!! Good advice!!
