UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME

Money represents whatever is important to society as a culture. And Culture-is-ah-changin!

I started using Steemit last year for blogging and posted two stories and quickly lost interest. I was initially attracted by some people I follow on Facebook. I wasn't interested in the Cryptocurrency or block chain. I just wanted, and still want people to hear/read my ideas to solve the the biggest problems facing Americans today. Healthcare Costs, The Corruption Of Congress (Lack of Adequate numbers of representatives) and the Military Industrial Complex. Everything else is just a symptom of the three problems. (Immigration is not a problem, it is a necessity until robotics and Ai takes over.)

I am normally a very humble person but on these subjects i am passionate and believe what I am saying and also desperately asking people to argue with me to know for sure; but mostly I get apathetic agreement or gas-lighting insults, But on Steemit back then, all I heard was crickets.

So many people on Steemit were and are so rightfully focused on Steem and Bitcoin. I focused back on Facebook but to no avail. They need an auto troll filter toggle switch. I've become resigned that either I'm wrong or I need to change tactics. I've looked at Minds, Quora, and Reddit. Blah Blah blah.

So this year I changed tactics. I started blogging here again, overcame the time-out issue caused by the inactivity; learned how to buy and bought bitcoin, transferred and converted it to Steem Power, Learned about minnows and whales... and still.... no one cares about the corruption of congress and how to fix our system back to Constitutional ratios and it's all still about anarchy and bitcoins...... except health insurance is becoming a hot potato that people are talking about, luckily. I'm probably exaggerating but you get the picture

Then I started reading on the concept of a Universal Basic Income. UBI. My initial reaction upon hearing about the Idea was shock. The same shock any conservative would have followed by a sudden urge to hold onto my wallet.

I went on to do some research on the subject and read some details on unemployment compensation in Funland I mean Finland. It's being touted there as a form of UBI. And learned that it's the Anthesis of Anarchy.

And Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are in favor if it...... UBI not Finland but I'm sure neither one is Anti-Finland.

This started my thought process about economics, money, velocity, cryptocurrency and the unique way that Steemit is literally paying people to Blog, up-vote, And comment!

So here's the big question, Will Steemit or a future cousin provide that elusive Universal Basic Income we humanity is striving for?

Will Robotics and Artificial Intelligence soon enable mankind to live without the Paralyzing Thunder of Wonder, of how he will survive?

Will the de facto official money become Cryptocurrency at that junction? A little history lesson to follow in my next post.

Check out this guy as well. I think he's on the money!

I always had capitalist mindset. At first glance this idea of UBI was not for me. But later, when I went deeper into Universal Basic Income... this idea is great in terms of humanity. It gives a sense of safety, make us more productive, and we can reach our dreams much easier. It make us more human :)

I am not for UBI at all. Generations of families have worked for their income, made their dreams come true (it just meant that they had to work harder) and my main concern is this: where is the money for an UBI going to come from?
The government? Who is already trillions of dollars in debt.
Companies? Why would they pay someone for NOT working for them.
Big Banks? Oh, the ones that had to be bailed out less than a decade ago, but could still give their CEOs fiscal year-end bonuses.
Philanthropists? How do you think they made their money? By working hard, investing smart and knowing when to say no.

Businesses from the pioneer days to the present did not have a safety net. They struggled and learned from his or her mistakes.

That was my initial reaction to the idea. But the idea of Steemit and its paradigm has provoked some thoughts to the contrary that the money isn't taken from anyone and given to anyone. It's fiat and created as needed based on the resistance and workload of intelligent labor. Read this piece: https://steemit.com/money/@adconner/the-evolution-of-money-from-agriculture-to-cryptocurrency

I do agree with that, but not in the terms of an UBI. To me that is just another form of welfare; which people begin to rely upon and eventually say, "oh well, I gave it a shot. Now I'll just sit here."
I am fully committed to Steemit and not for the cryptocurrency. To me that is just a benefit way down the list of my reasons.
I write and blog daily and comment, do the upvoting and resteeming of things that I think are important and have real meaning behind the words.
I left facebook and mostly twitter too due to the lack of discipline and bias ways of the people involved. I am online to work, not worry about petty high school drama and rumors.

I will not support it if it's crowd-funded via Extortion but the invention of crypto currency and Steemit have given me an epiphany as to what money really is. Check this out:
It's whatever society deems it to be by action and usage not by decree...

Here is the only book on money that matters:

You're right. But they aren't considering the costs. All they hear is "free money!" Haha. The whole concept is impossibly un-affordable and destructive. In Finland, they found that people who received payments began turning down job offers and staying home..

Actually it encourages people not to work anymore. That is what happened in Finland. And let's not start with saying it GIVES anything. Don't neglect to mention that UBI must first be funded via taxation (theft).

One thing that a lot of people don't take into account is that a universal basic income would have a positive effect on the economy. The economy of this country has always been consumer based. Buying stuff is what drives the economy. Without buying power, people cant buy stuff. When people aren't buying, stuff is not selling, obviously. If stuff isn't selling, or is selling at a slower pace, factories have to cut back on how much they make, or they lose more money. When a company is losing money, people lose their jobs, and their buying power. It's a downward spiral. This downward spiral is what this country is in the middle of right now. And meanwhile, the corporate CEOs still get their million dollar bonuses.

Actually, it is savings and investment which powers economic activity. Consumption is the using up of goods. Production must occur before consumption can take place. And handing out cash to everyone in the form of UBI payments will just result in price inflation, because sellers will raise their prices according to new demand. Kind of like how the government got into the student loan business and tuition increased dramatically. Let markets work, and prices will come down on their own, making more goods available to more people.

Thanks I'm not looking for a Socialist solution for our society but a capitalist one where we all can create our own Basic Income in crypto currency.

oh sorry I thought you wanted freedom

Yes Freedom from having to share my sh-t with you. Hahahahaha.

hahhahahah nice joke

here is a video on the different types of property, because you obviously have no understanding communism. Nice try though lmao

Communism cannot truly ever exist as an economic system. Human behavior will never allow it any more than it will allow pure anarcho capitalism either. What we have today is beginning to balance out; all we have to do is re-open up the US House of Representatives to a Ratio of 1:30,000 which was the framers initial agreed intent.

lmao it has existed hundreds of times throughout history. Rojava has over 3 million people and exists right now lmao. 80% of the workers voted to keep the USSR communist, the only failing was that a revisionist got in power. They were too soft on them, and let them live.

https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/peter-gelderloos-anarchy-works

but you are right, "anarcho" capitalism can not exist. That's because private property can only exist through state violence

Think private property can only exist through state violence? Try to take mine.

"What we have today is beginning to balance out"

5 people own more wealth than literally half the people in the world, are you delusional

True, Since we created the safety net; progressive elites have ruined America but now we have to live with it as well as the screwed up voodoo economicss which has also helped the elite consolidate even greater wealth; but through my blog I've outlined the changes that need to be made to get back to a vibrant and now all inclusive 1950's era economy; without the voodoo and erasing all the gains the communists have made due to the mass reductions in middle class income. It's a fact description. Not ficticious class term invented to separate anyone.

In the United States we threw off the chains of a Tyrannical Monarch of favor of self rule.
This is the goal of many Anarchists - Independence and Self Rule but in a Country of 300 Million it is now impossible without affecting someone else as you endeavor to provide for yourself and your family, independently.

We have a unique opportunity that I've heard many people want to squander.

Our government is still here to maintain personal freedoms to speak, to travel, to assemble, and to own property, encouraging people to create new businesses and grow the old ones.

Jurisdiction and Original Titles to the Patents for our lands in America has been created by Conquest of the Colonies originally Conquered by Great Britain, by Conquering the Western Territories from Mexico and the Indian Territories directly from them, by conveyance from France for Louisiana and Spain for Florida and Conquering the other island nations around the globe. We even tried and failed with Canada.

"In the United States we threw off the chains of a Tyrannical Monarch of favor of self rule."

actually the ruling class still rules us. It was a bunch of rich business owners that didn't want taxes lmao

True but since the Civil War a lot has changed politically for the constant improvement of our Nation.

its not self rule until the workers control the means of production. We can only control a extremely small sub-set of social issues, and nothing more.

We can't even convince the ruling class to stop killing millions of people to privatise oil in other countries or do anything about climate change, you are delusional

How many did Mao kill?

Yes, I understood all of that. Communism is Ownership off all means of production; which I whole heartedly disagree with by rote. However I do understand and agree with Anti-Trust and Anti Monopoly laws. I am a Statist After all; but only based on the US constitution and its laws which should be spread across the globe with certain tweaks. Namely to the house of reps. But others too. See my other blog posts and you'll get where I'm at and coming from.

communism is collective ownership of the means of production*

m8 a few tweaks won't make capitalism a good system
https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1916/imp-hsc/

First of all, do you even understand what imperalism is?
No imperalist country can be free

do you even understand the contradictions within the capitalist system?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_contradictions_of_capital_accumulation

No system which operates on wage labor can be free

https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1847/wage-labour/

Ima pragmatist not a capitalist or a communist. But it looks like those links lead to a reeducation / propaganda camp - attempting to cause class wars to do exactly as I've described. And the US has the potential to be the Land of Anti-Imperialist as well as the Land of the Anti-Communist. And yes the biggest tweak is to enlarge cogress to about 10,500 representatives for the reasons I've outlined in MY posted writings.

And I believe it's not only legitimate but necessary for private parties to own property that is used for making profit; history shows that private Interests in a business cause it to succeed rather than fail from lack of efficiency.

"it to succeed rather than fail from lack of efficiency."

ussr was more efficient than literally any capitalist country.

it turns out forcing workers to labor to survive while a class takes the majority of what they produce without doing any labor while spending the majority of their resources manipulating money instead of actually doing something beneficial to society, is not very efficient.

Soviet Union was far from efficient and..... it failed. The Russian Empire It was taken over by charasmatic elitists using class warfare to kill millions of "white Russians". That's not referring to skin color but a political grouping.

Communism today is a tool used by the elite to cause conflict along Class lines so they can come in and scoop up the resources both public and private from the ashes when it fails:
https://steemit.com/venezuela/@adconner/communism-and-class-warfare-an-old-tool-of-the-elite-perfected-by-age-en-venezuela

lmao class conflict is created by having multiple classes lmao

There will always be classes. It's human nature set one's self apart even if it's a false notion he has about himself.

Society has created institutions and tax policies, dedicated to helping all of humanity move out of poverty but this is a daunting task. As long as Labor Intensive Jobs even exist it will be impossible to eliminate money all together, and the Global Lords are loathe to give up that level of control; but it won't happen anyway. No one wants a moneyless world. We'd have no way to measure our Talents.

There are more than two classes. Is that what you're saying?

here is a video explaining economic classes, you seem to have a problem understanding

I understand everything you've presented. Studied it even. And yet I disagree.. whole heartedly. I'm surprised you can't see the eliteist competitors propaganda in all this. They're using you to stir the pot; to create the ashes; to rule over the greatest non-Empire republic ever invented.

"Communism today is a tool used by the elite"

actually its for the workers and by the workers

Communist Revolution is how actual slaves are made by the people funding the revolution. I.e. Chinese Red Revolution and just look at all the robot like slaves they have working in Every major city.

The workers have no resources to revolt. Those have to come from elitist competitors who expect to rule from the ashes.

This is a thought provoking post @adconner, very well presented so you earn my upvote, resteem and promotion. I think when you boil it down to brass tacks at the end of the day, while UBI would benefit billions it would greatly diminish the lifestyle of millions. Those millions fully encompass 'the Elite' whose power hungry drive will never succumb to offer such pittance . . . . UNLESS - there is something in it for them.....
