STEEMFIT
Optimum health requires the mind, physical body and spirit to be in balance. SteemFit is focused on taking care of your health, your well-being and a concept for busy people with limited time. SteemFit stands for a balanced health and work life.
My first ever SteemFit Episode was about Yoga and now a year later I think it's time to share another morning yoga session with you. The past weeks have been crazy for me as I am working a lot on my projects and I really don't know how I would get through the days without a proper routine, so whenever I get asked about my time management and how I structure my day, I always start with the first hour of the day, because it's the most important one! Your morning routine sets the tone for the day, what you do in the first hour in the morning determines your capability for the day, month, year and essentially you whole life, so don't underestimate the importance of a morning routine.
SUNRISE
There is no true evidence that early risers live a better life than night owls, but it does boost your energy and aligns you with the natural flow of earth, when you decide to rise with the sun. It's a beautiful feeling when you get up early and decide to rise with the sun and in my personal experience it gives me the best head start on my day.
I like to start with the waking up of my body, before I wake up my mind, simply because my mind has a lot of work to do throughout the day and deserves to rest and gently be woken up. Have at least an hour to yourself every morning before you start answering e-mails, taking calls and talking to people. It gives you the chance to plan your attitude, act more consciously and focus on your priorities before the information flood begins.
Everyone has a different way of getting their day started and it's ok to switch it up sometimes, but I generally say whatever works for you (exercise, meditation, reading etc.), the key is in establishing a routine, doing something repeatedly to achieve progress. A routine is especially important during the tough times, when you don't feel like it, you're "too tired" or you're "too busy". When you have a routine, taking care of yourself becomes a habit that saves your day no matter what, conquer stones with ease and lets you perform better in every aspect of your life.
Sun Salutation
Start your day right and keep your balance throughout the day. I love to start my day with a quick yoga session. Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar is basic yoga, a sequence of 12 poses, preferably performed at the time of sunrise on an empty stomach. In the morning it revitalizes the body, refreshes your mind and gets you ready for a busy day where you need a clear mind. Each pose has a different meaning and is meant to be performed in the direction of the sun, to establish a grounding relationship with the sun based on gratitude towards life. There are different severity levels to Surya Namaskar. If you've been practicing yoga for some time you are probably familiar with sun salutations. It's great if you're a beginner. Find my tutorial <<HERE>>
Yoga Freestyle
This particular morning in Lisbon, I woke up before everyone else in the house and decided to get a sunrise yoga session in. I felt more relaxed, mindful, and overall happy throughout the day. This time I didn't follow a certain set of poses and rather went with the way my body wanted to stretch.
Don't forget that yoga is all about control and moving your body slowly. The gifs above are sped up, to show you different exercises, but it's most important to keep BREATHE AND MOVE concsiously, slowly and deeply.
Question OTD: How would you love to spend the first hour of your day?
Much love,
- Mrs.Steemit
Answer OTD: A fantastic cup of espresso, a fantastic view of an ocean, a fantastic internet connection (first world problems) and a list of fantastic steemit posts to peruse.
Love it!
To QOTD: I usually set my alarm to wake up 2-3 hours before I’m scheduled to do ANYTHING. I get up and make myself coffee and breakfast. Then I read any news or notifications. I like to be able to process my upcoming day and refresh myself with positive thoughts for motivation
Love it. I'm the same!

That sounds lovely! Morning walks are the best.
I too agree. That first hour of meditation is so important.. I find it therapeutic and refreshing as I work into the tasks of the day. More folks should do this. Wonderful post. @mrs.steemit.
I practise the Vipassana Meditation in the morning.
That's awesome. Meditation is a great way to get your day started!
I like to eat and have a cup of coffee straight after I wake up. But now you made me want to do sun salutations before I have my breakfast. I think I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks!
