Why I want to take the wife to SteemFest2
Here is a story about intangible as well as tangible assets.
My wife and I have been married for 7 years and have not been able to take a proper honeymoon since. Many obstacles during the span of our marriage have gotten in the way, including my wife's battle with cancer. Money comes and goes, and we never seem to be able to save enough.
I have been investing in the stock market to help earn some extra money and was up $9,000 on a small cap bio when they announced some bad news and I watched it all go away pre-market before I could sell. Fast forward a couple of months and my journey into cryptocurrency begins. I am currently mining Ethereum and Zcash and blogging on STEEM. But, my wife doesn't believe a thing until there is physical proof of profit. Problem is that I don't want to sell my precious crypto when the future looks so bright.
I am hoping that @theprophet0 and @steemfestdreams can help me make my dream to take my wife on a vacation out of the country true, so my wife can finally believe in the power of cryptocurrency. Once I am able to introduce her to some of the great steemians in the community, maybe she will even hop on board the steem train.
Plane tickets to Lisbon are going to cost about $1660 for the both of us, so the only way for us to get out there is through the contest.

I get this completely - the bizarre, unrealness of cryptocurrency - and especially an phenomenon like STEEMIT can be incredibly difficult to explain. I find myself feeling like a buffoon when i try to just because it sounds absurd when you talk about it.
So if you're invested heavily enough into steemit and cryptos to legitimize the cost, while also getting a nice trip to Lisbon, why the heck not give things a physical representation for your wife. It may even put any lingering doubts you have at ease.
It is frustrating to explain thats for sure. People prefer to deal in tangibles. I personally have no doubts that blockchain will change how we do everything

Thanks for sharing your story @necrophagist. Here's hoping that @steemfestdreams pulls through in the clutch and raises enough money for you and your wife to make it to Lisbon this November. I have great faith in the Steemit community that a solution will present itself and allow all of us dedicated Steemians to make it to SteemFest with affordable plane tickets and hotel accommodations!
