SteemFest weekly update - 1 week to go!
TLDR;
People..... It. Is. About. To. Happen! SteemFest. Almost can't believe it... Actually within 1 week we'll be having the pre-drinks in the Volkshotel already in full-effect!
This will be the last weekly update as next week I won't have time for it. There will follow some announcement posts via the @steemfest account, so be sure to follow that.
Without further ado... This is what I did last "week":
- Helped out @good-karma a bit finalising the SteemFest mobile app. Heck, even
pushedandpulledsome code and got acquainted with the Ionic framework a bit. Check out the result at http://steemfest.com/app - Finally laid the egg of the SteemFest timetable.
- Lots of back & forth with @cass to finalise the Program / Map of Amsterdam to hand out, but it's at the printer now, and yeah of course we already discovered some typo's :D
- Wrote and tested the code for the 1000 SP issuer script and got it reviewed by @xeroc. He gave some useful pointers.
- Did quite a load of back & forth mailing & calling with locations, the hotel and service providers (canal boat company).
- Ordered some SIM cards for attendees who opted for the Sim Card Delivery Service (if you want to use it, i bought 3 cards extra, so follow the instructions on the link)
- Received a gazillion of packages, printed stuff, flags, floormats, camera's, a food processor for @allasyummyfood workshop
- Talked through with my dad & brother who will be baking family recipe dutch pancakes during SteemFest Sunday's "Red Light Mashup".
- Went on an appointment with the Old Church and explained Steem, SteemFest and made a deal so we can also visit the Old Church itself during SteemFest Sunday.
- Ordered the prints for #ArtAtSteemFest and made 'catalogues' and ordered those as well.
- Continued my appeal for the Visa rejection of @infovore. Re-faxed all documents to an Appeal office, re-emailed everything, called the embassy in Nigeria (Lagos) again, but it seems stuck in bureaucratic crappers. Really annoying as I tend to want have everything fixed by calling and this really feels like a wall or a door smacked into your face. I really want him to be in Amsterdam next week,... so if anyone has political powers / cords we can pull please let me know!

Thank you and everyone else for all the good work you've done to make this happen. It's sad that @infovore might not be there because he is pretty much the reason why I'm going in the first place. I am not sure what I could do but if I can help with the visa process in anyway I would definitely be willing in anyway.

Have you tried to switch days? It should work offline mode as well. Some devices might have response issue, just switch days and it should start to reflect the changes. Let us know if it works...
@shla-rafia as @good-karma suggested... did you try to switch days? It helped me to have the schedule being displayed. (I think I made a mistake with the 'fade in / fade out' code somewhere...)
I don't think it is fade in/out issue @roelandp. It has to do with offline data, we do save data in first run and depending on how responsive is the device they might have this issue. But it is not major issue, unfortunately Android 4.2.2 is older OS which I don't have access to test this. Changing day should fix it, I am 99% sure of it. In other case, we will find and release patch for it, Android store quick to processes it.
I didn't see any option or button to change date. Will reinstall now, maybe helps lol
I presume it's not ready to work until the day of the festival... Events will probably show up a few hours before they are scheduled. Not sure just presuming

App is fully functional and production ready. Before we released it, we tested as much as possible. And release week earlier than event, will give event attendees also chance to download it and get ready for their travel. ;) So basically everything in app is ready, you just download and start planning to what talks you want to join.
Hi Roeland. @the-ego-is-you and I were wondering what your plan is for live streaming steemfest. Where will it be available to tune in? We are hoping to find a way to play the live stream through discord and offer our users a space for live commentary. @the-ego-is-you runs the steem-pub server. http://discord.gg/steempub and we were thinking about how we could offer the space of voice channels to people at steemfest and those who couldn't make it. The Livestream Post will be published on Saturday Morning 12 November at 09:30 GMT+1 latest on @steemfest account but will be a Youtube livestream. Just follow the @steemfest account.
Ps is this the same as the "SteemSpeak" discord or are you guys another channel? I think it's smart to bundle powers and centralise chats...

I have a suggestion to help @infovore with the visa. It's not an easy task.
Have you send an invitation to the embassy? if yes, please let's get some of the conference speakers fax a support letter to the embassy from their country of orign. They need to express the importance of him attending this conference due to his contribution with SteemMagazine. It's a way for the global community to learn and share his experience. We can help prepare the letter for Steemfest speakers to sign and fax to Nigeria embassy. For more detail, let's chat on SteemChat if you want. All the best!
talked to you on Steemit chat.. but yeah i did send an invitation letter... that was nr 1 job :) about 8 weeks ago already... and then some: speaker ticket, hotel reservation, schengen travel insurance, etc. etc... Even called with the ambassador of france in nigeria... pfff. such systems. First time dealing with these kind of politics. wow.
