Steem.Chat Contest #26 Winners Announcement!

in #steemchat6 years ago

The 26th contest was about answering a simple question, If you could run a science experiment without financial limitations or ethical boundaries, what would you do? There were some interesting entries. I hope we will continue to see interesting responses to the weekly contest and greater number of participants as well.

Let’s get on with this.

Congratulations to these Steemians who won Contest #26:

  1. @abdulazizganiyu - I hate seeing people suffer so if I could run a science experiment without financial limitations or ethical boundaries it will be an experiment on Cell manipulation including regeneration and destruction. There are many suffering in the world today ranging from war to poverty to illness and so on. However it may be impossible to cure the world of all the suffering, but with cell manipulation we can go a long way in treating many illness especially that of atrophy, cancer, hiv-aids etc.
The human body is made up of trillions of cell where only a few body part undergo cell regeneration every decade or so to keep us growing. Carrying out experiment on the subject of cell manipulation can allow us destroy or remove infected and damaged cell and regenerate or create new ones just like the salamander cell regeneration ability, this can help humans in rebuilding amputated or lost body part. Cancer eradication becomes possible, and so as rapid aging. A human test subject will be required to carry out such experiment.

  2. @jadams2k18 - If I could run a science experiment without financial limitations or ethical boundaries, this is what I would do: I would counsel a laboratory with all the most modern equipment to investigate human genetics. It would bring together scientists who are experts in DNA and genetic manipulation, combining them with biologists specializing in marine life and reptiles. First to study the natural ability of jellyfish (Turritopsis Nutricula) to achieve eternal life. This species is capable of reversing its life cycle and regenerating to its mature state as many times as required. Combining this ability with reptiles' ability, which can lose a limb and regenerate it completely, would be the complete advance for the fight against diseases such as cancer or the alzaimer, parkinson and even more against amputations. Making the human being completely immortal. Imagine such a world, having the ability to return sight to a blind person, the voice to a mute person and the hearing to a deaf person. Regenerate organs, hands, legs, hearts, etc. The ability to do well with the development of this experiment is unlimited. It would be dangerous however, it would be amazing for the development of human life

  3. @zayushz - If i could run experiment, i will make research about generating electricity from waste (sewage)."Getting a charge out of sewage." In the future, the wastewater from our sink, bathtub, and toilet may do more than just go down the drain. It may become a source of electricity. I will experiment with fuel cells that run on microbes. I will explain a little bit, As we know that in the sewage there are thousand of micro-organisms which decompose this waste to generate their food for survival, but we have to mainly focus on bacteria's, bacteria can naturally generate electrons as they break down organic materials. A fuel cell siphons off these electrons to create an electric current. If we could recover about a tenth of the energy in the wastewater, we could probably power the wastewater treatment plant. So we're looking, realistically, to recover about half of the power, and if we do that, I think we'd be looking at a process by which we'd actually put electricity back into the grid.

  4. @sathyasankar - If I could run a science experiment without financial or ethical limitations what it would be:- I would invest every possible resources into creating a big antimatter having the size of the sun and then unleash it freely. Then I observe the big event that follows from some other part of the universe. I might have reached that part of the universe by travelling well beyond the speed of the light through my specially manufactured vehicle. To those who haven't heard of antimatter yet, it is something having the power to nullify the 'Matter'. The reaction between 'matter' and 'Antimatter' produces a large amount of energy. To say it approximately, 1gm of Antimatter in reaction with 1gm of Matter would produce an energy equivalent to three times the energy produced by the atomic bomb dropped in Hiroshima! And it is not easy to create antimatter. It is estimated that to create 1gm of antimatter we need a whopping $62.5 trillion in cash. Then imagine, how much money does it require to create a sun-sized antimatter! I know it is suicidal. But you have mentioned there is need not to worry about ethics!

Congratulations on winning 8 SBDs each! It will be sent to you soon!

Stay tuned for the next contest announcement.
