When moving from the northern hemisphere to the southern, our Christmas became rather different. We went from snowy and cold to hot and dry. People are walking around town in shorts, tshirts and sandals.
Even after 2 Christmases here, it is still weird to me that instead of having a fire to sit by on Christmas morning, we are opening all of the windows to keep cool.
The backwards seasons are something that I never thought of. Haha

my first Christmas in California when I moved there from London was depressing. While shopping for presents in Ojai and seeing everyone in shorts I said to my wife I was finding it tough to feel christmassy and she suggested that I watch movies with snow in them. I did that for a couple of days, and whadda ya know I got over it. Now twenty five years later I am able to shop for Xmas presents in shirt sleeves and shorts just lioke everybody else. Thanks for reminding me of my progress!

Haha No problem!

that's quite interesting indeed, thanks for sharing!

You bet!

That's cool man, an inside look going from colder weather to more....Steemy weather lol

Haha Never thought of it that way!

In Germany the people come together with their families to celebrate christmas. The most people have christmas trees and they are eating together great dishes. I usually visit my older sister, my nephews and brother in law in Hamburg with my mother.

family time, dinner and waiting, celebration mood...that's all sweet and great... thanks for sharing!

How does christmas look in our own home of England? A visual barrage of christmas jumpers in offices schools shops apparently the more gordy the better and if you attend a christmas market you have to wear the jumper to follow the crowd!!
It also has succumbed to our iconic bull in Birmingham bullring who gets a new jumper ever year

Christmas in England is so cute :D

Thank you is quite entertaining

I live in Ukraine, Christmas and New Year we have presented in many folk traditions. For example, we have to spend Christmas Malanka Fest.
malanka
Into the New Year we go to the family and friends to visit, have fun at, give gifts to your children, and much more ...

In Serbia Christmas eve is called Badnje veฤe, it derives from a word Badnjak, which means an oak branch.
(The custom is to bring an oak branch into the house and place it on the fire
on Christmas, there is even organized oak bonfires outside churches)
On Christmas eve families gather around for dinner and many don't eat food that comes from animals because its the last day of Christmas fast.
If you didn't know in Serbia the main Church is Orthodox and we still use
the old Julian calendar so Christmas is not on 25th December but on 6th January.
Here's a photo I took last year on Christamas day, in the street outside my house.

Snow snow snow :)

Thank you for sharing Marina! Please join today's Advent, https://steemit.com/steemadvent/@good-karma/day-12-steem-advent-calendar-2016-win-prize-everyday. Day 11 is now closed!

I live in Canada and both Christmas and New Year's is represented by a lot of snow and a lot of driving across the province in which I live. You haven't seen snow until the banks are 10 feet high or taller. It's like driving in dirty white tunnels for hours, but when you get where you are going you can bet, there will be a warm hearth, great food, music and a lot of laughing with family and friends. We load the car with our emergency gear too, because you never know if your car is going to get stuck and if you have to walk to the nearest farmhouse for help, you'll be thankful for your parka, snow pants and boots rated for -40 below. This is a picture, from Christmas 2 years ago. The pavement is the road and you can see how high the banks are. Some people are very patriotic and spray paint the banks with encouragement. LoL

๐ŸŽ… must have liked Canada with that snow... thanks for sharing!

Thanks for hosting this game @good-karma! It's been really fun and I am learning a lot each day.

It's my pleasure and we are having good time as well with my family, sharing holiday mood, spread some love and connecting with more Steemians... Thank you for actively participating, just like many here... I get to know more people from community and it is great to see new users everyday...
