My Review of Busy.org: It Is An Amazing Interface: Everyone Needs To Try It!!!

in #steem6 years ago

Busy.org has been, well, busy.

That development team did an awesome job with the progression. If you have not tried this application, or it has been some time, you have to give it a whirl. I think you will be very impressed.

To start, this is a very clear design. The interface has a "mobile" look to it although I have to admit I have no tried it on a phone. To me, this is a sign of a team that understands where things are going. Having a clean look on a mobile device is crucial.

The home profile page has some wonderful features. It start with one's level at the top. Many are unclear whether they are a Minnow or Red Fish..right next to the profile pic, it tells us.

Also, the tabs right below the background pic have all the links we need. There are discussions, comments, wallet, etc... On the left hand side we see our profile information that we loaded plus a couple of nice features. At a glance, one can see voting power and voting weight. It is nice to have this in one application.

On the right we see recommended users. Also, please note the blue number 3 next to my profile pic on the right, that is our activity notification which will be handled next.

The notifications feature is very handy. Since I joined in August, this feature never seemed to work on Steemit. This is not the case on busy.org.

When one clicks on the notifications bell, the last 5 or 6 notifications show up. At the bottom there is a place to click to show all. This is what comes up.

image.png

The notifications tells you when someone commented, mentioned you in a post, or followed you.

When you press the activities tab, you see everything that was done pertaining to your account. What makes this feature handy is that it is user adjustable. The right side of this screenshot shows the parameters that the user can set.

When you enter through the Settings button, we see also on the left a bookmark and drafts button. Drafts are automatically saved so as to not lose your work. The bookmarks feature allows you to add stories that you want to read at a later time.

image.png

When clicking on a post, it is interesting to see a thing called market. It is on the right hand side and it gives the pricing of any tokens mentioned in the article. This makes it easy to see what the price of a particular token is when reading a story.

We also see other articles written by the same author. This is a common feature among social media sites to "recommend" other pieces. Usually, authors have to put links to articles they want to promote at the bottom of their posts.

image.png

When actually in the article, there is a handy feature to promote that article on some social media sites. Notice the buttons on the right hand side of the article.

Also, to get out of the article and go back to the feed page, simply click the "X".

image.png

This next feature I should have probably started with because it is one of the most important.

D.tube is a very valuable application on this blockchain. For that reason, easy video interface is crucial. Take a look at this.

Notice how the video is in the ready to play in the article. Simply hit play and it goes. I have yet to have a video not start when I hit the play button.

Busy.org has a referral program. Anyone you directly refers means you get 10% of their reward for 30 days. This is to provide incentive to help the interface grow. This is located under the setting tab,

Here is my referral link if any of your are interested in using Busy.org, I would be appreciative.

But wait there is more....

According to an update posted by Busy, there are a couple of other things I want to highlight.

The first is decentralization of pictures. Many talk about the blockchain being decentralized but the applications are not. Busy.org is changing that a bit (along with D.tube). It now utilizes IPFS (Inter-planetary file sharing) which means all pictures are now stored on the peer-to-peer system. The photos how have a hash assigned to each one.

There is also an instant notification feature that was added. When someone notifies you, there is an instant pop up that appears for a few seconds on the lower left of the screen.

Overall, Busy.org is a feature rich interface. It has a more contemporary feel to it in my opinion. The learning curve is not overbearing although it will take a day or so to get accustomed to it.

One big asset, for those under 500 SP, the voting bar is available immediately. This will range from 1% to 100%.

I highly recommend this interface to everyone. Try it and I think you will be hooked.

Far better than steemit, but is costs, so I am sorry that I even tried it.
In Steemit you are supposed to get rewarded.
The solution should be to throw sneak and the current crew of no goods, and replace them with people who deserve to be voted for witnesses.
Also, since busy.org already taxes its users for using it, it is wrong to vote busy-witness for witness.

I agree fully!

I've seen the busy tag a couple of times. Had a quick glance at the interface a while back but now after seeing this update I am sold! This will probably be my go to method to interacting with Steemit for the foreseeable future.

Happy Steeming!

With kind regards,

Sleek comment mate, a bit too large in formatting for my taste as it takes too much of commenting's real estate, but sleek either way.

Thank you. And I agree with your consideration. I'll try and tone down the required space. It is a bit much at the moment! I'm still finetuning and getting used to the whole Steemit platform.

It's great, all it needs is a 'night mode', I'm getting a slight tan everytime I use it 😎.

I was a heavy night mode user on steemit too, but most people don't use transparent images and I'm left with white squares everywhere and it grinds my gears so went back to light.

The slider for the one below the 500SP if the killer feature. I will give us the opportunity the hand out more votes, without destroying the voting power at once.
I did start to use from Tuesday and really like it. There are some features missing which could be very handy.
I do like to see something like the reward tab in the steemit.
And they should also make it possible to go to the market and being capable or selling the SBD for Steem.

But for the rest, it is great!
Maybe you should add an extra thing about steemconnect in the post. People do wonder why they need to give a password there.

Well, they have to do it to use any applet currently operating in the blockchain, but I agree that the first time I saw Steem Connect as a newbie it kinda freaked me out so it is probably a fair point.

I agree, Busy.org is awesome. I love their discoverability with recommended posts on the right side of the posts that you are reading. So much better than steemit, where discoverability sucks.

I think the discoverabiliy is the best part. There really isn't a good way to get discovered on Steemit, as well as get older posts a tiny bit more visibility.

Definitely. The problem with steemit is that you don't have good discoverability. Trending sucks. @steepshot does pretty well for photos, and busy is better overall. Once discoverability actually starts working nicely, we can do so much better.

Totally. That's one of the massive advantages that pretty much all other social media platforms have over Steemit. With the way Steemit works too, you need at least some kind of audience, or big whale, and lack of discoverability undermines the entire thing.

I use busy.org always. I first got into it because of the free upvote you get every 24 hours. When you are starting out all votes that you can get for free is very important.

I was using the Esteem app on my mobile device and was happy with the upvote it gives and then saw that it takes 5% which is not bad when you start out but can be costly when you are making serious money. No such thing as a free lunch.

Also with Busy the bigger the vest of those that follow you the bigger the percentage of its vote to you. I get about a .06 percentage vote now which translates to .16-.25 cents every 24 hours! Almost the same as a qurator vote.

I am pretty happy with the interface and I had notice the change in the images.

Excellent review TM!

Indeed I love the

The vests of those that follow you? Meaning if you have follower whales even if they don't vote for you you get a big slice of the pie~?

Yes Maxy!!!

I first saw that when I read about busy.org last year you can see that here

https://busy.org/@busy.org/introducing-busy-org-the-bot-that-rewards-your-influence

Then @miniature-tiger gives a more awesome computation of how good it would be to have heavy vestments follow you.

https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@miniature-tiger/busy-busy-busy-org

P.S. while looking for those links it seems it is every 12 hours instead of what I said of 24 hours.

Thanks man, will check it out right now!

Now you can get notification fon steemit on busy.org // who is following you and who reblogged your post and many other notification you can recive
Its a great opperrtunityand a great steep from busy.org team i appereciate him thanks for your kind information its a great work for us

The thing I'd add would be the ability to see which notifications we already clicked and those that are actually new since it kinda gets confusing and I went back at using the mentions function of external sites or GINAbot.

From the reviews I have read, busy.org is one of the most beautiful things to happen to Steemit.

The team there has also done a fantastic job.

I love the fact that it is a unique "stand-alone" but Steemit-leaning website. Without Steemit, it is hard to think there would have been a busy.org.

That's the power of vision and collaboration.

Steemit and busy are two different interfaces. Busy is tied into the STEEM blockchain.

They access the same information...I am not sure there is much collaboration between the two development teams but it is possible.

Two months ago, I used busy.org on my mobile for the first time and i was hooked. For one, making comments on mobile using busy is super fast. On steemit it just takes a bit longer. Also, as far as being in love with the colour blue goes for me, am i the only one who thinks the font in cool?

Great review. I love the web interface. I wish the mobile version didn't have the ads.
