Do you want to see STEEM moon? Let's talk about brazilians and social media.

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Hello!

I heard that you are a STEEM holder, and is positive about the potential and the future of this blockchain and the STEEM ecosystem (including SMTs).

You already saw a lot of posts around here, detailing how amazing this platform is, how fast and cheap (no fees!) this blockchain is, and how this is a revolution happening on the way everyone will use social media.

I agree with you. But do you know what we are missing around here to make this place rocket up to the moon?

Brazilians

Brazilians LOVE Social Media

Why you ask? Let me show you some numbers:

For starters, let me show you this graph:

2018-04-30 (9).png

This is the projection from the site Statista with a projection of the increase of social media users in Brazil.

Brazil have a population of 213 Millions people (Source), and in the projection above, half the population around here will be using social media by the year of 2022.

The next graph i have to show you, also from Statista, shows that Brazil is the 4th Country in the world in number of faceboor users, and all 3 countries above us have way more people.

2018-04-30 (10).png

(BTW, the first graph is older, and you can see on the newer one, Facebook users already surpased the projections for the whole social medias users expected)

Brazilians are known worldwide as a warm people, that love social interactions, and this huge amount of users on sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. reflects a bit of our general personality.

Brazilians Developers Everywhere

Brazilians are a people that like technology, and we have a huge amount of universities that provide technology related courses.

Every year, we put on the market a big amount of developers, coders, system engineers, and a lot of other professionals that work on technology in general.

And we export these professionals.

You don't have to search much, and you will find brazilians working on google, microsoft, EA, facebook, ubisoft and a lot of others big companies.

Here on steemit we have a good example: @hernandev has been contributing for @utopian-io for a while now, and has launched an website that allow you to check you steemit payouts, called Steem.Show

If brazilians developers start to join Steemit, i bet my SBD stack that we will see a lot of development on the steem apps.

Is there brazilians around here?

If you look at the tag #pt, you will see a lot of movement there. Along with all other portuguese speaking communities, we all use the tag #pt to write articles on our mother language, and every day we see new brazilian steemians arriving.

So far, the last count we did, we found 558 brazilians users, and this amount is starting to grow day after day.

But think a bit about this and the others numbers i showed you above, and keep in mind that cryptocurrencies and steemit is a new topic around brazilians groups.

We are 558 now, but we have a potential to reach 100 million users!

But how can Brazilian community grow?

Now allow me introduce you to

Yes, @brazilians!

This was started by @thomashblum and @casagrande, some of our olders steemians around here, and the philsophy behind it is to curate and help every new brazilian that arrive here on steemit.

I fondly remember when i wrote my #introduceyourself post in portuguese, and was quickly greeted by @brazilians, @thomashblum, and other brazilians. That day i started to find out how big this can be for us!

And what @brazilians do?

We try to gather together as many brazilians as possible.

These days, the @brazilians account work as a curator, where it upvote, comment and resteem good posts written in portuguese.

But it's not only that! We have a Discord and a Telegram group, where we can find people all over the country talking about not only steemit, but all kind of topics. Discord and Telegram groups are integrated, and we have a big chat between brazlian community (A big thanks to @casberp. It's a mess sometimes, but its really fun!)

@brazilians as a community, is always trying to find out new ideas to write about, and the members are always helping each other on how to better use the platform and the blockchain.

We also have a Twitter account with 4,7k follower. So, another 4k potential steemit users already!

Here is some nice things going on that started within our community:

And that is the whole point of its existence: Help Brazil community grow, with a big special attention to those that produce quality content.

The road ahead

We have been talking a lot these days about how can we make things grow bigger around here. Here is some of the ideas we are talking about on how to better use @brazilians to improve our community and Steem as a whole:

  • Create a campaing to bring in famous social media influencers
  • Talk to brazilian crypto exchanges to add STEEM on their sites
  • Start a segmented curation by topics (art, music, health, crypto, etc)
  • Plans to advertise steemit around other social media sites
  • Develop a front-end for portuguese speakers users
  • a lot of other crazy ideas that we are throwing on our discord channel.

Amazing! How can i help?

We need to grow, so we can start to show the people that still don't have an account on steemit how good things are around here. That way we can attract more and more brazilians to take residence here on our beloved blockchain.

Here is where you might come in: Delegations. Even though we already have some delegation at our account, it is still not possible to upvote all good and amazing posts brazilians write around here, and without good posts being promoted, it will be hard to attract more people to use the platform.

So, here is you chance to expand Steemit beyond english speakers countries. Help @brazilians grow, and you will help Steemit grow!

You can use these links to delegate some of your SP:

10SP, 20SP, 30SP, 50SP, 100SP, 150SP, 200SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP

Also, if you don't want to lock your SP on delegations, donations are always welcomed, even less than 1 SBD/STEEM donations. Every bit helps.

But i want money!

Ok, i understand that some of you will want something in return for you help.

I can't say that you will start to recieve dividends from our project as soon as you delegate, but there is a bit talk going on our community, were we are trying to find the best way to reward everyone that contibute to the community as a whole, be it posting good articles, be it delegating SP/Donation.

On the next days, when we reach an agreement, @brazilians will post something about how we will reward our delegators.

By helping communities grow, you help Steem grow

There is a lot of unused potential on our blockchain. And we need to expand beyond english speakers. The world is big, and the revolution has begun. Let's all bring this revolution to every corner of the world!

Thank you a lot for your attention!

Half of the rewards of this post will be donated to the @brazilians account!

P.S.: About the comment from the user @felipejoys, @brazilians team sent me an message informing that he was banned due to personal attackes toward another members, more than once, and has been warned about his behaviour. The ban was being analised by the moderation team, but there was no consensus due to his repeated behaviour.

Think twice before getting financially involved with the "@brazilians" group members.

I've been lied to by d4rkflow, a @brazilians Discord moderator trusted by the founding members. When caught red handed, he banned me. He said he was a core member of @cryptoworldnews, a crypto-related group of high reputation, although a CWN moderator confirmed he was not.

After asking @casagrande and @thomashblum if I would stay banned, they said I would because "they were afraid me and d4rk would argue again". I guess it's okay to have an admin who makes false claims to make himself look trustworthy, though.

A group that claims to act towards the benefit of the community, expelling a member to cover up for an admin's bad practices. How much success could they have?

Greetings, phgnomo.

Excellent posting, good for making the community have visibility.
Thanks for the quote-me.

I hope that the steemit staff can look a little closer to the Brazilian community that is growing every day. Many people here make a tremendous effort to add novices to the group and help them understand how steemit works, making them grow up in here, always respecting people and collaborating with quality content.

I thank the foreign readers (outside Brazil) and wish everyone a good holiday.

Thank you and good evening!

ajustado meu camarada!

The last sentence was thw most true of all. We have to make this an huge community to grow our steem. I say, lets delegate money directly to brazilian devoloper artists! Haha

Building community is a major pillar of steem mooning

Thank you for your support @aggroed. You are one of our inspirations to build our community!

I love it! And wish you all the best!!

Peace

Terrific post @phgnomo.

This is why STEEM is going to be huge. There is so much potential that is untapped it is incredible.

I wish you the best in growing the Brazilian STEEM community. It is wonderful to see penetration into the different parts of the world. STEEM is a great way for people to get involved with cryptocurrency and start their journey into the tokenized world.

I will resteem this for you.

Thank you for you support! There is a long road ahead, but our community is kind of passionate, so i think we might do lot of interesting things around here!

Just a FYI, you might want to check out Manna and get that spreading throughout Brazil. It is a token that was created to be passed out as a basic income. The link is at the bottom of all the post on my blog page. Use the referral link and get an additional 50% distribution for the first 12 months.

We aim to eliminate global poverty....perhaps Brazil would like to help with that.

I already know MANNA, and already passed around some info about it to some friends. I will definetly make a post in portuguese about it soon...

Excellent.....

One of the co-founders talked about making Mannabase a social media platform at some point also...so you can look for them to get into social media somehow too...something you said is very popular in Brazil.

stEEM will MOON very soon!!!

Awesome! Go to moon!

Great post! Market for currently mainstream social media apps is saturated in the US. New markets such as India, Brazil, Indonesia and others is where most of the current companies are focussing on! I hope to see Brazilian communities become huge in the future on Steem!

Indeed. Before Facebook go global Brazil was the number 1 on users on the old Orkut. I think we can make this happen around here too.
