Enabling Privileges

Certain Steem applications will ask for your keys and ask permission to automatically use that key's privileges to do the app's specific tasks without you needing to re-input the key again. This is normal but do this with caution.

  • Know which applications you're using and see if you trust it.
  • Highly recommend AGAINST using your Owner Key! Some apps may ask for it but they usually also ask for alternative keys like your posting or active. If so, choose the latter! Never take chances with your Owner Key when you don't have to.
  • Check the url to make sure it is the legit site. Same for SteemConnect if you are taken to there to finish the transaction.

Password/Key Manager Clients

I won't go into heavy details here or talk about the developer side of things since I only know the basic use case of these applications. X3 But basically, there are some Steem applications where you can input your posting, active, memo keys into them and then you can use the client to login or enable whatever permissions an application is seeking to access instead of you having to fetch for your posting, active, and memo keys all the time. Below are two of them that I know of that does this.

Keychain Extension
SteemConnect

If you would like to learn more about Keychain, just follow the article link below.

If about SteemConnect, follow this article I found in the link below.

Revoking Permissions

If you have a SteemConnect account, you can simply login into your account, find and go to Authorized Apps on your dashboard and in it, click which apps you would like to revoke permissions for, and done!

You can also revoke by imputing the url below, replacing "appname" with whatever app you are trying to revoke permissions for then just follow the directions given to you.

So now that you know your stats and your key managing, lets quickly talk about your other Steem based tokens. ;)
