Portugal defeated Argentina and becomes the world champion

Portugal is world champion in hockey, 16 years later. Portugal beat Argentina 2-1 on penalties, 0-0 in regular time at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona, Spain.

The goalkeeper Ângelo Girão, who had already caught five balls from the Argentines, was once again huge at the goal. Argentine even converted the first but then no Argentine scored.

Hélder Nunes and Gonçalo Alves scored for Portugal and gave the title to the Portuguese.
