This is DAY THREE of the daily devotional.

I am releasing a 50 day daily devotional about the end-times as revealed in Scripture. Along with the text, I will be providing a video where I cover the text of the day, and @verbal-d will be providing an audio version of it. That way, whether you want to read, watch, or listen, you'll be able to enjoy this study as you wish.

The plan is to release this devotional over the next 50 consecutive days, but life may "get in the way." We will do our best, but please be patient with me if I fall behind.

The supposed seven year “tribulation period” is based upon a concept called the “Seventieth Week of Daniel”. In Daniel 9:24, seventy weeks are mentioned; “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” Whatever we are to determine about the “Seventieth Week of Daniel”, we would do well to remember that it is just the final week of a period containing 69 other weeks. The purposes previously listed are in relation to all “Seventy” of the “weeks”, not just the first 69 or the last one.

The six specific purposes that are listed in this verse for the 70 weeks are as follows:

1- To finish the transgression
2- To make an end of sins
3- To make reconciliation for iniquity
4- To bring in everlasting righteousness
5- To seal up the vision and prophecy
6- To anoint the most Holy
These are the only purposes listed.

Please note that God’s wrath is never mentioned in the purposes for these seventy weeks.

If the entire “Seventieth Week of Daniel” is supposedly synonymous with “The Tribulation”, and if “The Tribulation” is when God pours out His end-time wrath, then we should see something mentioned about it.

The passage continues; “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times” (Daniel 9:25).

Here we see the first 69 weeks mentioned; “seven weeks” (7) plus “threescore and two weeks” (62) equals 69 weeks.

“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined” (Daniel 9:26)

After these first 69 weeks are finished, there remains only one week left, the “Seventieth Week of Daniel”.

Let’s examine what Scripture tells us about this week.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” (Daniel 9:27)

As you might have suspected, there is no mention of God’s wrath in this verse either. We only read that the week will be confirmed by a covenant, and in the midst of the week the Temple sacrifices will be taken away, and the “Abomination of Desolation” will occur.

Even if we are to conclude that “The Tribulation” is just a man-made term used to describe the “Seventieth Week of Daniel”, we do not have any Biblical evidence thus far that this is a specific time of God’s wrath. All we know for sure so far is that the Antichrist will make a covenant with many for seven years (1 week) and that he will commit the “Abomination of Desolation”.

Point: There is no mention of God’s wrath in relation to any of the 70 weeks of Daniel, much less the 70th week specifically.

As you can probably tell, my goal is to simply help people wrap their mind around a new concept each day, building upon what was already shared. Hopefully each of you understands the point(s) for each day.

If anyone is really interested, I did post the entire volume through an alt account over a year ago. I did so as an experiment to see how hard it would be for a new user to get noticed on steemit, so I didn't let anyone now that I was doing it. You can click here to a post that has links to the entire 50 days of this devotional if you really want to read ahead. That information has always been available there since I first posted it. It is not the purpose of this series to just copy all of my previous work, but instead to transform it into some new outlets by releasing it in an audio and video format, to broaden the reach that this work has.

Again, though I will certainly never claim to know it all, I do believe that many are being lead astray by some popular beliefs. I hope that this project will be able to help many others understand the end-times more accurately. Thanks!

Just in case you are new to this series and wanted to check out the previous audio or videos, here are links to the posts from each day of this series.

Also - A special thanks to @allforthegood for helping design my cover image!

Until next time…

Glad to hear it.

The word of God is ye and amen. Thanks for sharing.

I've never looked at this concept of tribulation like this. I guess I've gotten my understanding sharpened yet again.
Thanks for sharing. I quickly had to grab my bible to look into the book of Daniel 9.

Well written and insightful as always. You are obviously going somewhere with this one so I'll wait to see where it leads. I'm trying not to skip ahead but you're making it difficult... :-)

Perhaps the comment I submitted for day 2 should've been posted here. Oh well. It will be interesting to see if and how this book goes on to apply this prophecy of Daniel, although enough evidence has already been given.

I guess that you will have to wait and see. Perhaps you'll even see something new.

It's good to have a fresh view of scripture, and if it causes us to delve more deeply, you have done a great service, but I don't agree that some are being led astray by the other interpretations. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we will lose our salvation because of how we understand the end times.

Salvation is by faith through grace and through his finished work on the cross, and is not based on what we do or do not believe about the end times. one thing that we can be 100% certain about is that Christ is coming back, and the Victory has been won! Just my own humble two cents worth. :-)

Sure, I understand that. but I think that some of this is supposed to be revealed to us for a reason, and if people are deceived about what is to come, it may make things harder for them.

Salvation is through the Messiah, not eschatology. Thanks!

Yes, I believe He wants us to have dialogue with each others doing MORE IMPORTANTLY a closer relationship with Him, and to realize that we all serve the same risen Christ. I used to be very firm in my beliefs about different interpretations, but not any more. Our focus has to be on Him, and not who is right or wrong. I love that your studies are putting this out there for discussion. I love intelligent discussion, so I am very open to what you are saying too. 👍

Good work... Its important people understand the truth as it is written in God's word.

It is amazing how much misconception has been passed down! Thanks @papa-pepper for going through this topic and showing what the Bible is really saying!
