Eugenics!
If we were ALL ruled by a Philosopher (decentralized cryptocurrency comes to mind) then improving humanity by controlled breeding in order to increase desirable heritable characteristics is not a bad idea.
Unfortunately this has already been tried by power hungry individuals with disastrous consequences.
- Is it because those who have tried to force everyone were failed individuals?
- Or is the idea of breeding perfection flawed?
- Who would decide what these desirable characteristics are and who would select those who embody the best?
It seems obvious to me that natural selection should work to ensure that those who live according to sustainable, established qualities would survive and procreate. And that these superior people would individually and collectively work to constantly ensure that problems are solved as they happen.
Of course this has not been true. Even if the decision of who would live to continue the species were put up to a vote the results would be inconclusive.
I vote for survival of those most compatible with permaculture standards! People who see the long lasting value in caring for the earth and people, and investing any surpluses back into caring for the earth and each other are the ones I would select to continue the species.
Tithing is the key! It changed my life to realize that I am just a steward in God's world. Everything belongs to God. Returning only 10% back to doing God's work in the world is a mind blowing idea to live by.
It leads naturally to the realization that we have an obligation to care for His earth and all people; to act as His stewards.
I know that the solution to world problems begins with me. If I live according to the ideal in the best way I can it sets an example. I am the only one I can control.
Pass on to others all the best. While it circulates around it will eventually come back to you and we will all be blessed by the abundance.
The variable ways and means of achieving this goal can be found in innumerable places. If we all individually live our lives as if this change for the good was possible, then the balance will be tipped in our favor and the cascade of possibilities will amaze us all! and hopefully come to fruition.

The guys' name was Al Bielek might enjoy his story too on YouTube, your intro reminded me of that... Apparently, if you stepped out of line, one warning.. But too far, ZAP! only 500 million people left/allowed on Earth too :/

I think the main idea I was trying to make is that you can only live your own life according to the best ideas you can envision.
ALL ELSE IS JUST AN IDEAL BUT IMPRACTICAL FOR SOLVING WORLD PROBLEMS.

It is frustrating when you try to do good things or help people then powerful individuals screw it up in their effort to control every facet of our lives. 🐓

I like your idea about tithing, @bchick. I'm far from being religious, but I completely agree that everything belongs to God (or I'd say everything IS God, but let me not stray too far from your idea), and we are merely using it for a while. So in all our actions we should give back. Return surplus. I'm not sure how to calculate the 10%, but the rate is small enough to be realistic, while still large enough to make an impact.
Yes, the percentage is not the important part. The realization that I am allowed to use some and the rest is for sharing is what was life changing.

How would you amend the idea of solving the world's problems?
It is quite a problem to solve but in the end IF it was easily solvable wouldn't it have been done already?
I think not all problems, especially the world's problems as whole are easily solved. The mess that has been created is way too big for a quick and easy solution and should be done in sections. Our basic "section" we can start of with is being decent human beings, giving, caring for our earth and ourselves and praying, because you need prayer to be able to handle the mess. Not sure if I made complete sense but I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at haha

Yes, I understand and agree. I am the solution...not me in particular but all I's.
Now does that make sense? Each one of us recognizing and doing what can be done. The Golden Rule. (do unto others...)
One part of me wants to have a whole collapse so it can all be started over but what if the greediest and most power hungry lasted?
