It was around 11:30 PM summer solstice
some years back when these top photos
were taken at Captain Cook park.
The summer solstice sun was setting by
Mt Spurr volcano and right over this pointed
boulder, one of many glacial erratics
We had a driftwood log fire was going on
the beach. Complete with a little fire spirit.
Top two photos are from old camera, next
two down are from newer Nikon and last
one is from older Sony.
We live south of the Arctic circle by about
800 miles, give or take a few moose paths.
The sun does set on the Kenai peninsula
on the longest day of the year. It takes a long
time to slide behind the mighty mountains.
Then it just hides a few degrees below the
horizon and a few hours later slides back
up not to far from where it set.
In winter that amount reverses and we
get only about six hours of daylight on the
shortest day of the year.
Love to be like the birds who go from pole
to pole, enjoy year round sun! Can you
imagine the sun never setting!?
Give thanks to the sun everyday.
These photos would suck without it lol
Along with many other things eh.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G photography @shasta! I almost felt like I was there. : )
"give or take a few moose paths" HAHAHAHA! You Moose Queen of the North! From one moose antler tip to the other Tip!
Happy Solstice my friend! : )
It should be completely different feeling from living with a "regularly" running Sun.
I greet the Sun every morning and I feel it greets me back.
Thank you for sharing so uncommon experience!
We do get a wide variety of different color sunsets up here, light golden with arrow pointing to where the sun is as if people did not know the way, The setting over the mini pyramid and how blood red it was that night. And all the golden rays of the the sun's crown, many different moods many different colors, good thing the sun is there, it would suck to have an ear ache when you live in a world of darkness and then can't use your ears to see because of an earache. At least on super bright days you can put sunglasses on, although it would have to be real bright and gleary since we mostly stopped wearing them.
There are a lot of shades, those had the reds and golds, need to find the purples next, like at the pullout for Redoubt/Iliamna shots heading south, the bubbly bumpy cloud bottoms, ha ha that kind of sounds funny - the bubbly bumpy cloud bottom, it has gas and goes boom boom boom, a little spark and it ignites, a flash of light and lightning strikes.

Those little fires are fun to poke and sit by, contemplate the
past present and future and to be nice and warm on a cold beach! ❤
Thank you very much @snowyknight!!

I been itching to watch the long winter
series again, I wonder why? LOL

Those special energies in the morning

It is very different than when living in
CA. where when it went down it was
fast, with instant dark to follow lol
