What I've Learned About the SmartHive From Hanging Out on Discord
The SmartHive is where community and collaboration converge and is fueled by SmartCash
One of the unique aspects of SmartCash is the fact that 70% of the block reward is reserved for SmartHive projects. These projects are voted on by SmartCash holders with a 1 vote per 1 Smart ratio, and represent the power of self-governing decentralized mechanisms.
This level of community engagement and collaboration is truly unparalleled within cryptocurrency and the potential for this to shift the way in which we collectively organize is staggering.
With that being said, there are a few things I have observed in regards to the SmartHive that are worth being aware of.
SmartHive is NOT a Kickstarter Platform
I'll admit, when I first heard about the SmartHive I compared it to the equivalent of IndieGoGo and Kickstarter, as I believed it was a unique way to gain funding for a particular project. This may change in the future, but it's important to understand the current status of what proposals are likely to be funded.
Projects that support SmartCash directly are the most likely to receive approval, whether through things such as a support bot, a weekly SmartCash meetup to facilitate adoption of the currency by local vendors, or by creating a fiat to Smart exchange.
Some of the proposals that have been approved contain charitable functions, but it appears projects that connect directly to Smart are the ones that receive the most approval. A project that is charitable and well-intentioned but has nothing to do with Smart is currently unlikely to receive support, as the Smart community is focused on expanding and growing the reach of the platform.
SmartHive is mainly to support community projects that support Smart
Let me be clear, I don't foresee this always being the case. In discussing potential projects on the SmartCash discord, the current trend is to support projects whose primary focus is to improve adoption and make the currency a realistic and accessible alternative as a form of payment.
In terms of efficiently using community funds, it makes sense to focus on the projects that will expand the reach of SmartCash. This will increase the value of the coin, which in turn will provide for greater community funds once mass adoption has been achieved.
Connect with the community regarding a proposal prior to submitting it
I intend to submit a proposal to the SmartHive soon but I want to make community engagement and collaboration a priority before formally submitting my proposal. The SmartCash discord has been an incredibly helpful tool for collaboration and support, and I highly encourage anyone who is thinking about submitting a proposal to discuss it with community members prior to submission.
While the process encourages individuals to submit their proposal to the SmartCash forum for discussion, I think it is also worth talking with people about it on discord, as it seems that the level of engagement is greater there.
SmartCash is the community and collaboration crypto of choice, and as such, it is important to seek the input of fellow participants in order to increase the likelihood that your proposal will succeed. Editing and revising is an important component of any project, and the best way to do this is to embrace the hive mind and ask for feedback from other members.
If you hold SmartCash, do the community a favor and check out the current proposals and then vote on them. You will not only empower those who submit proposals, you will also empower SmartCash as a whole...which includes you!

I love the smartcash discord. It's like a busy little bee hive. There's so much interaction in all channels and the community as a whole is very active and welcoming. I think anyone even thinking of getting into the coin should check out the discord channel.
Absolutely! I never used Discord prior to SmartCash, and it's been a fun way to interact with the community.
On a side note, I'm now using Discord for a few of the projects I'm working on, as it's vastly better than annoying group texts
