Your Opinion - Self Voting on Self Comments ! Share your thought....
Currently, it is appraisal time in many corporate, with the beginning of new financial year, many companies work out on the budget and decide on increment of salaries of many employee.
The process adopted in many companies, follow a method where the employee need to self-appraised / evaluate first as per the set benchmark and set goals in the companies.
Thereon the same will get reviewed and discussed with the immediate supervisor. No doubt, every employee, do consider their work to be at par of the set standard, however, there are certain areas, where the supervisor do consider that the employee is lacking and need some improvement.
Well, I am not considering my appraisal on Steemit, which is nowhere to mention, however I have concern about the Self Voting done on many of the comments by the commenter himself/herself.

I believe, Voting own post or content is correct, however, voting own comments on other post is mean thing one is doing. It is kind of self-appraising own comments through own view. I have come across many instances, where many Steemit user, made a single word comments on other post, and made a self-voting on it.
I know, by doing so , he / she will be getting the curation as per own voting power. Many user with high Steem Power, have a good weight on the voting, and they utilise it for own voting. However, I think such comments are not even considered to be self-voted.
At least put a meaningful comments and then let other to evaluate the comments.

No one is perfect and everyone do lack something which make them incomplete. Self-voting is like self-praise which shows the arrogant part of yourself. I would prefer, user to upvote on others comments, to value other viewpoint. Steemit is all about giving to others though rewards and curation.
All the above content is my own viewpoint, and I openly putting it through the post. I would be interested to listen on all others views as well. Would really appreciate, If I can get a something fruitful with my thought in the comment.

A lot of people abuse this legal loophole in Steemit. I've had it happen to me ... and yes, it's really annoying. For someone to come in and upvote his four word comments and not leave a thing on your post says something about his character -- to me.
On the other hand, sometimes it's appropriate to upvote your own comment if you've spent time on it, you think it adds to the value of the conversation and you'd like to push it up past a LONG line of previous comments. If you don't do it often and you also upvote the post, I don't find that offensive.
However ... here is something else to consider:
Whales (and many dolphins) don't come to Steemit to create content. They're here as investors -- to make money from their stake. And if that's the case, then there are four paths open to them to profit from their involvement here -- other than waiting for the price of Steem to rise.
Curation -- not many whales have the time or patience to wade through post after post trying to find something worth upvoting -- and then settle for a fraction of the 25% curation reward. If you have a gob of money and a life ... and other interests, you can see why this isn't appealing. (Also ... sad fact of life: Not many people become whales by being philanthropists. They know how to look out for Number 1.)
Self-upvoting comments. Easy. Lazy. Works great though.
Vote selling. Kind of a gray area for those who don't agree with the bots / vote-buying.
Delegation leasing. Potentially real profitable. Kind of a hassle to administer. Takes a week for them to get their delegated SP back once a lease expires. Can't lease it out again in the meantime.
So ... you can see why some do as they do. Also, you don't have to be a whale to profit by upvoting your own comments. (You also don't have to bother with pesky stuff like making decent posts.) As I said. Easy. Lazy. Self-serving. And yes, potentially very annoying if not done for the reason I mentioned at the start.
Quite elaborative explanation of the situation @enchantedspirit thanks for taking out time for detailing so long stuff..i do agree, however i have seen many users who have taken delegation lease....and upvoting nonsense coments...anyway they have just wanted to earn for own...

I think self voting should be regulated by the developers. I think one should not be allowed to upvote self post more than 40% per week or the reward value of self voting may be restricted to 50% of the value if it was used on others' post. Also, up-voting on one's own comment made on others posts, should not be allowed. Otherwise, self voters having high steem power will drain a lot from the reward pool and others will not be able to get enough rewards for their posts. Certainly, this will not be good for the steem community as many people will leave steemit if this problem persists.

I got your point here, for some they are upvoting their own comment to maximize their earnings as their own way of earning, but I don't think it will make a contribution for their growth since it's turning out to be only a "self-support". But another reason I see is to make their comments appear on top, above all comments.
How does it matter to them that those meaningless comments appear on top

yeah, but I don't think we can't do anything about that since the system allows the user to do it anyway.

I'm strongly opposed to self-voting one's own comments- like you, however, I think that upvoting your own content is fine.

Hey @steemflow, in Malaysia we call those people who upvotes themselves as "syok sendiri" meaning having fun by themselves. It's like "Yayyy, I got an upvote and it's from me!" kinda thing.
Honestly, I can't control them to stop appraising themselves, but they're using the pool of money delegated by Steem to vote 100% for themselves (because they just wanna get money). That's why I've stopped upvoting my own posts and spend those percentage (even though my upvote value is 0.002) to support people who deserves it.

Most people get into Steemit to earn money. So do I. It's either the mentality of "earning money at all means" or "earning money and doing good". :)
Agree @tifaong in process of making money many forgets the basic modus operandi of steemit...i.e community development through voting and helping each other...which people indulge in self voting making it impossible
The fact is, there are this kind of people and we can't control them. What we can control is ourselves. When we don't do it ourselves, we've reduced the number of those kind of people by one. And it made a difference :)
I get what you are saying, I try to avoid upvoting my own comments. I actually am very hesitant to upvote my own content at this point. My vote is only worth about .01 so it really has little impact on the final reward anyway. I know there are some curation trails I follow that if they cover my story I end up auto voting myself. I agree with you though. The value of comments should be left to other readers and the originator of the post as opposed to the person leaving the comment.
I don;t self upvote my posts or comments. Maybe I should upvote my posts,seems most people do.

I'm sad when I see many comments with self-voting (and huge votes). Maybe you are interested in my proposal to reduce voting-rings and self-voting.
I have also alerted that people can get very good interests with self-voting without proof-of-brain, which is bad for the community. See the self-voting constant.
I don't upvote my comments, as I think it would be a waste of my voting power. But maybe I will if I reach dolphinhood...
To be honest, I think Steemit was designed in this way. It's all part of the reward system, to encourage people to invest in Steem and hodl. I've recently watched a couple of interviews with Dan Larimer (co-founder of Steemit), and - I hope I've got this right - it seems that he made a deliberate decision not to adjust the Steemit model as so many people had bought into it the way it was. So I don't see it as "immoral" or "unethical" to upvote your own comment, because the system was designed to make this possible.
If "plankton" are putting their energies into upvoting their own two word comments, I suppose that's their business. I certainly won't be following them or paying any attention to them.
