Flat Out Wrong
I'm all for keeping an open mind on almost any subject. Almost any subject; some moral judgments are sacred in my mind, inseparably attached to my sense of right and wrong, as it is for anyone I guess. And then there's the mountain of knowledge accumulated by thousands of generations of curious predecessors, science.

I often say that everyone has a right to their own opinion, but not to their own facts. I know this is hypocritical in some sense, as it presumes that we know things for sure, and we don't. But that's exactly what science is; it's not proving absolutely that something is true, but only saying that repeated confirmation by experiment makes it more probable. That's why the highest honor to be gained in science is the status of a "theory"; the theory of evolution is therefore not JUST a theory, it's THE theory and therefore creationists are wrong.
Creationism isn't the subject though, flat-earthers are. Now, I know what it is to be called a "conspiracy-nut," as I have strong doubts, to say the least, about the official narrative about many things, most notably 9/11, and I always encourage my readers to keep an open mind on everything, so it's with some trepidation that I write this down. It's just that I see so many articles and vlogs about us living on a flat disk, so many articles about the growth of several flat-earth societies and organisations that I have to say something.
The earth is a globe and we've known this for around 2000 years now. Many flat-earthers point at the photos and film taken by satellites and point out these are fake, and they could be fake; I can't know that. Many of the films shown of astronauts at the international space station do seem fake indeed, but ultimately I can only suspect fakery, I can't know for sure. But 2000 years ago the globe-ness of our planet was shown with two sticks in the sand, 800 kilometers apart and of equal length, by just measuring the difference in their shadows' length; we don't need photos or film, just observation and an inquisitive mind.
But hey, in the end I can't even be sure of that, until I take two sticks, step on my bike and repeat the experiment myself... The second best thing is have someone else do it for you, so please watch this video for a modern-day recreation of a 2000 year old experiment:
How I Proved the Earth is Round (with my Bike and Two Sticks)
And if you're in doubt that the earth is spinning, please also watch the famous Foucault pendulum, another experiment done right here on earth:
Watch The World Turn
P.S.
When trying to think of a title for this post, I looked it up first, just to make sure "flat out wrong" is indeed a popular English saying. In th esearch results there were several videos in a series called "flat out wrong" about this very subject... When will I ever have an original thought..? But hey, it looks interesting so if you fancy the subject, look them up.

I have always believed that there were 2 sides (or more) to any argument. This has been proven and unfortunately, disproven by a simple phenomenon that we see often when it rains. :) A rainbow, you can only see it from one side. Ah well,I tried the 2 sticks when I was quite young and always had a hard time with it as I only managed a measured distance of 22 feet of seperation. I got to where I could find North pretty good though. Most of my postings are usually the result of "Anger Issues" relating to peoples reluctance to verify known facts of almost anything. I often hear "I remember the good times in the olden days" usually from folks who are less than 30 years old.
I enjoyed your writing and will keep an eye open for more.
Thanks and keep up the good fight!
