The difficulties of teaching robots
One of the main problems with teaching tasks to a machine is that we aren't usually aware of everything we know, we know how to distinguish important information when we learn something. This must be considered when teaching a machine.
An AI researcher, Rodney Brooks, wanted to build a robot that would learn by imitation so the instructor sat down in front of the robot to teach him how to open a bottle and then made a series of gestures for the robot to learn. These gestures included unnecessary gestures such as stretching or rubbing the fingers.
Robot imitated all the movements, including the unnecessary ones, since the robot didn't know how to distinguish. Teaching human knowledge to a machine is complicated, people not only repeat what they see but enrich it and are able to discern between the indispensable and the secondary. For this reason a parrot only repeats phrases that it has heard before and a person is able to create phrases that it has never heard before.
Although we believe that AI is very advanced, which is somewhat true, it still has a long way to go and evolve.
