Greetings to whoever will find this journal. You do not need to know my name, for the messenger is never as important as the message he bears.

Instead, my advice to you is that you take what you read quite seriously, even if your logical brain wants to believe otherwise. After all, logic is merely the result of well-considered opinion.

A little over a thousand years ago, people would have considered you quite illogical, if not abjectly insane, were you to tell them that the earth on which we farm, walk, kill one another and bury our dead was a ball of rock floating in space, and round the sun no less.

Today, people will think you stupid, uninformed or childish, were you to tell them that the earth is flat, and that one can fall off the edge, if they travelled long enough in a given direction.

Now I shall assume that you get my point, and will not let the illusion called logical reasoning prevent you from disbelieving my story.

My story began when deep-space exploration began to improve drastically, and humanity began considering the Moon as a prospective mining site. I was among a team of explorers, sent to survey the satellite of our planet, take mineral and geological readings and submit the information to a team of experts, who would determine whether we could mine on the Moon, or not bother at all.

Taking all the scientific materials we needed for the endeavour, we launched from our little speck of blue in the infinite universe. Of course, people had landed on the Moon multiple times since the first Apollo landings, which were quite a while back. Interesting times.

Back then, I hear it would take up to seven days to get to the moon. I pity and greatly admire those intrepid astronauts who would undertake such discomforts, just to push the boundaries of knowledge. Now, it only takes about eight hours, an advancement that so many of us have taken for granted today.

Our shuttle was to land on the side of the moon facing the earth, close to the border of where the light from the sun could touch.

Then we would use a PC Rover (PC being Personnel Conveying) to scoot across the dark side of the satellite, while we collected information. The brighter side of the moon had already been charted and investigated, and we would just do the same for the dark side. A cake walk, nothing difficult, we believed.

If only we knew just how wrong we were!

To be continued...

Thanks for coming!
