I live in the north central part of the USA and winter is a big part of our lives here. We got our first snowfall of the season yesterday morning.
The cold temperatures predicted this week will put an end to Autumn very quickly. We will enter a winter season that lasts 5 or 6 months and everything will be predominantly in black and white.
I don't like winter. The only reason I have stayed here is because this is where my grandkids are and this is where my family is. I really dislike the cold, but as long as I can stay indoors and observe winter through the window, I can appreciate how beautiful it is.

Ooh how I can feel you my dear Melinda ! Winter is my less loved season because I'm so very sensitive to cold ;-) Yet, I'm living (and was born) at the mountains, I don't ski at all, but I stay there because I love this place and well you know...Annecy...well yes, you know ;-)
Until a few years ago, I really had hard times with winter and cold..
until I decided to make peace with that, as it is aimed to come back every year and for a few months during my whole life, I thought it was a pity to cease to leave during winter, or at least to cease to appreciate beauties of life, because that was in fact what was unbearable ;-)
So I made peace with winter by buying very warm and cosy clothing and shoes, sweet blankets, buying good winter tires for my small car, and enjoying every things winter had to offer, like walk in the snow by sunny weather, having an hot drink at home while looking through the window, moving a bit more at home to be less cold, envelopping in fluffy blankets, taking pictures of beautiful landscapes....
in short, I focus on everything good about winter and avoid being conditionnal upon season to enjoy life or not..since I do that, I have to confess that my winters are beautiful, and even if it's not my favourite (Autumn !!), it is now a season I can peacefully or joyfully enjoy ^_^

I completely understand and agree! There are many ways to make cold winter days more tolerable, and I need to remember that and celebrate winter more,

I also do not like my best friend's winter, but in our area, for this month the rain is very heavy, the night is always raining, in our place, it is raining, not snow ,, different from where you live, friend @melinda010100
The rainy season or winter, it is very bad for me ... because I always hinder my activities ... thank you for sharing my good friend, hope the winter runs out quickly, and continues summer

I used to like winter when I was a kid. Lately, not so much. I reckon, the snow around Christmas is a must but it has to disappear by...middle of January (and this is me being generous). 😂
We still have beautiful sunny days, a little colder than before, but I'm sure this will soon change. Heavy snow and blizzards are part of the usual Romanian winter season.

we are here again in the rainy season. if the cold winter has never felt. how cold is the snow. many people say that slju granules are very beautiful like pearls. in Aceh we experience the rainy season every year the rain is very heavy and it is flooded with lots of rain.
I live in a country that has no snow, Indonesia is only the rainy and dry season.
The reward of having to endure the bitterness of winter is to be able to take such magical photographs Melinda.
I hardly know what a 'real winter' is like. We have a few days of really cold nights where everyone talks about how cold it is and then it's just about all over. If we have a week of cloudy days every one suffers from the SAD syndrome ~ Can't imagine what it would be like to have overcast skies for 6 months.
I really love the rain. Love pulling on my gumboots and feeling invincible to the howling wind and pouring rain. Love being able to walk in puddles particularly. But this winter we hardly had a drop of rain.
Like @barbara-orenya I decided to love the winter ~ Even though since I was a kid I've had chilblains every winter ~ But guess what? I don't get chilblains anymore. I feel learning to love all the seasons ~ And our summers can be suffocatingly hot ~ Is so healing for mind, body, heart and spirit.
