Run For Steem: Back to It!

Happy Friday!  I am quite happy to finally see the weekend ahead!  I've been pretty much going nonstop since last weekend, so it will be nice to have a pretty quiet few days coming up.  After doing the half marathon last Saturday, I eased back in to training with mostly mobility work at the beginning of the week then added in some functional strength training.  Yesterday was stunning outside after a cold and blustery few days, so I was elated to have the opportunity to get out in the afternoon for a quick run!

I'll get back to some serious training next week to get prepared for the race at the end of April.  For yesterday's run I just wanted to get back out to check in with my body and make sure everything was feeling good.  I ended up doing just a few laps around the stadium at work to get an easy 3 miles in and get a little vitamin D in the process.  I did realize my current shoes have just about had it, so time to break out the pair in reserve when I get out this weekend.  I've been running in the same style of Merrells for about 4-5 years I think.

For this stage in my life, I really enjoy the minimal style shoes--even for longer distance.  There may come a time when I need a little bit more support, but for now I am very happy with these.  Although I am not so sure Merrell is continuing with this exact style.  At least I'll get through this next portion of my training and half marathon before I have to figure out if I need to try a different style or brand.  Check out the weekly post by @mad-runner for @runningproject if you want some more tips on running shoes!

I will definitely get out again this weekend, but I'll go ahead and count this run for @jumowa's weekly #runforsteem challenge.  Check out the latest challenge update here.  Seriously, come join us.  Nobody cares how fast you go or what your stats look like.  You know you want to. ;)

I hope everyone gets some nice running weather where you are!  Have a great weekend!

I’m never game to try a new type of running shoe I have been buying the same ones for years. Just bought two of the 2017 edition as they go on sale when the 2018 edition comes out so it can save quite a bit of money .

I hope I can keep finding these! They're vegan-friendly, too. :) It's great when you can find the style you really like and stick with it, especially when you get them on sale!

I love running! It helps you to stay in shape and increase your stamina.

Thank you @plantstoplanks for sharing this!

Thanks! You should come join the @runningproject if you enjoy running! 😃

Cool! How can I join there?
Is there any requirement?

The info is at the bottom of the latest update post here: https://steemit.com/runningproject/@runningproject/the-steem-running-project-new-services-available-and-6th-status-report You just have to have a post about running for them to look at, then once you're approved send 1 SBD or Steem. You should also check out @jumowa's #runforsteem. That's just a weekly challenge to post one of your runs and you get a split of the challenge post profits. :)

Thank you so much @plantstoplanks for all these information. I really appreciate that! :)

The more the merrier! 😀

I am honestly like you. A lot of basketball player go for style and new coming out shoe while I buy the same shoes every year if I can still find them. It is not easy to find the shoes which are comfortable in basketball so I stick to the same one as long as I can. Sometimes buy two pairs right away and save them when one pair wears out. I don't care about the style or anything. All about functionality and comfort.

Good luck preparing for your race in April. Looking forward to seeing your post about it. Happy training. :)

Yes, I am in total agreement with you! Our feet are too important to wear shoes only for looks, especially as an athlete. I usually keep my eye on the style I like and buy an extra pair when they go on sale.

You made me think about a funny shoe story from when I played basketball in high school. I suppose for uniformity they made the whole team wear the same style shoes. At the time (mid-1990's) they didn't have the women's version in my size so I had to get the men's! I wear a size 11 or sometimes 12, which is definitely not uncommon now but apparently then they didn't have as many options for us long-footed gals. 🤣 At least you couldn't really tell from looking, they were a pretty basic style.
