100% SBD Give-Away 0001
I'm chomping at the bit to get this contest underway!
Since I have not had much help in deciding how to construct these contests, I'm just going to go ahead and do one to see how it goes. (The original posting for the idea can be found here:

How this contest works
- The contest is intended for lower-ranking members who could use the money (whales and dolphins are encouraged to upvote and increase the prize pool).
- The contest will run for 1 week and close on June 14, 2017
- Entrants will write (in a reply to this posting) a short (roughly 100 words or less) description explaining why they should win.
- I will select worthy entrants based on my perception of ingenuity, creativeness, and other factors such as community service/benefit.
- The prize pool will consist of ALL the SBD earned by this posting.
- The value of each prize will be based on the value of the prize pool and how many entrants are selected.
Upvoting this posting will increase the prize pool, so be sure to ask your friends and followers to upvote, even if they are not entering!
I just received a very generous donation from sykochica, so the minimum prize will be 5 SBD (which is now worth around $10 USD)!
Next week's contest will require entrants to explain how they discovered Steem and what they think now that they are part of this community;
so start thinking about what to write if you want to participate in the next contest.

🍒 I should win because I'm an active member of the Steemit Community, since I'm new I don't get much revenue for my post, most times I only get around $0.02 SBD, I do interact with other Steemians, by commenting, upvoting, reesteming, participating in contest, voting for witnesses, following interesting users and like most Steemit users, I want to get income here to make my dreams come true, like getting a new house, a car (used at least), starting my own business doing stuff I love, so that's it 😊
Thanks, Mariacherries! You just taught me something new. This is the first time anyone has resteemed any of my posts, so I did not know if there would be a way for me to know about a resteem. In my list of posts, I can now see a resteem icon above my post with your name on it! I'm now speculating that if anyone else also resteems, their name would be added along with yours. Does anyone know if my guess is correct?
In my case in does not show me if somebody resteemed my post, I know when somebody does because I get notified via steemwatch or via the eSteem app
I wonder why it behaves differently for different people? Is there a setting for this?

How do you set steemwatch to notify you of a resteem? By watching new posts from the author set to your own name? (There is no category for resteem.)

I upvoted. You have a really good idea here but I'm curious as to your main tag; why 'retention'?

Retention is to keep, and this contest is to keep minnows from getting discouraged and leaving Steemit. Hopefully it will be a fun way to earn a bit of money and stick around while gaining reputation.
Will you be entering the contest? If so, you need to write something telling us why you should win.

You are most welcome. I hope that makes sense and is an appropriate use of the tag. It is interesting to note that there are some guidelines to the use of tags and I stopped using the steem tag when referencing steemit because steemit is the website and steem is the currency. When creating content that discusses the website, then 'steem' is not an appropriate tag to use. I'm slowly learning!
Definitely take some time. You have several days. Just don't forget and miss the deadline. So far there is no competition! (But also not much in the prize pool either.)

I don't know that I should win at all. I don't have a big following, but I'm not small, either. I'm no genius, no superstar. What I do is show up. I'm here in the community every day, looking for people that could use a boost. I'm not much of a pedestal, but I'm happy to let others stand on me, for what it's worth. I've had it good. I think it's time for me to make it as good as I can for others.

Um. What's your definition of a superstar, then? I'm a 52, with two months on the site. I cracked 100 followers just two days ago. I've never had a post hit $100. 20 of my last 25 posts failed to reach $1. My upvote is worth just shy of a single penny. To me, that screams "minnow". But okay. Forget I was ever here.
cristof, You said that you were NOT a superstar. I agree with you! I was simply pointing out that the idea was not to encourage the superstars to go after the pittances that us minnows get. This contest is exactly for people like you who are struggling to get some recognition. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
