Thoughts on Today’s Quote

If you were a climber and you stood at the bottom of Mount Everest would you start climbing or turn tail and bugger off?

Most climbers I know of would at least try, even if they had to give up and come back.

It really doesn’t matter how impossible something looks, if you don’t throw yourself into it, you can be 100% certain that the odds will be 100% against you.

It’s daunting when the odds appear to be against you.

That’s the time to make a decision.

Do you want to just let the odds bury you? Or, person up and push forward?

The pushing forward option makes you stronger as a person, even if all you do is learn how not to do something.

I let the odds work against me for years and I held off writing. In the last year I’ve done a lot of writing and have not had huge success, but, I have had success. That is WAY better than the 100% failure rate from not writing and putting it out there.

Who is Arnold Palmer?

Arnold Palmer was born on September 10, 1947 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. His father was a head pro and greenskeeper at the local country club. He taught Arnold to play golf and let him accompany him to work.

He attended college on a golf scholarship. He left college to server three years in the US Coast Guard from 1951-1954. He then returned to college and competitive golf.

In 1954 he won the US Amateur which promoted him to decide to go pro. Over the next two decades Palmer he drew attention to himself and his play between his personality and his play. His most prolific years were 1950-63 during which he won 29 PGA events and five major tourneys.

He built a huge fanbase and by 1967 he became the first pro golf player to reach $1million in career earnings. Many believe Palmer was responsible for moving golf out of the country clubs and into the mainstream.

He had diverse range of golf-related businesses that included designing more than 300 golf courses. In 2004 Palmer became the first golf player to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2009 he received the Congressional Gold Medal. Arnold Palmer died in September 2016
