Hey All!

Long time no see! Tell me all about SteemFest2! :-)

Rules

  1. Create a poem using all the images shown on the dice (above).
  2. All 9+ images on the dice must be referenced at least once, each, in the poem. [Images are interpreted loosely. How you interpret (or assign the image meaning) is up to you and will not count against you.]
  3. Make a post from your poem and use “poetrydice,” as your first tag.
  4. Label your entry clearly. Include "Poetry Dice Entry:" in your title, so I know it's official.
  5. Drop a link to your post in the comments section (below).
  6. The colored Mary Jane die is optional. Reference M.J. in your poem the corresponding number of times as leaves on the die. For example, this week is 6.

Deadline to enter contest is next Saturday at Midnight PST (UTC-7)

Winners will be announced weekly

Thanks again for participating in the re-vamped Poetry Dice Challenge 3000! I really wanted everyone to have another opportunity to be inspired by a semi-structured poetry contest that is unique. Rory's Story Cubes have been an inspiration for me for many years, and Steemit has provided an opportunity for me to share that inspiration with you.

Whether you are taking a break from your own flow, or you desperately need pushed over the writer's block edge...this poetry challenge is for you. All of us coming together and sharing our versions of how the dice speak to us, is what makes this weekly challenge so great. I hope the roll of the dice will continue to be an inspiration for you and the ones close to you. Cheers! And thanks for all you do!

***Please only use the “poetrydice” tag for official entries to the contest.

How to write a poem

The winners are based on the entries which the judges think are the best. I am not saying anyone is a bad poet, we will not say that. Instead, we seek to offer you our encouraging and supportive feedback as a fellow poet. Our opinion takes into consideration many things that can add or subtract to the value of a poem, including:

  • grammar / Does it make sense?
  • flow / Are there any unclosed loopholes that leave me confused?
  • rhythm
  • rhyme
  • imagery / Can I imagine the pictures the words paint?
  • feeling / Does it cause a reaction?
  • and emotional pull / Do I suddenly have an opinion?

Special Thanks

To judges and hosts @robyneggs and @rensoul17. Cheers from us to you! Best of luck. We will be leaving reviews as we read each entry. Look for your chance to win each week!

First taking a bow to the creator and visionary for the Poetry Dice Challenge, @robyneggs YOU ROCK!!!. Thank you for all you do and for creating the PDC.
Congrats to everyone who did such an awesome job this week with your poetry entries. You must know that for me your words are food for my spirit each week and fuel for my imagination and as well you must know that what you do in this space adds incredible value to the Steemit platform. We must all do our part to continue to have the opportunity express our gift in this Steemit space and I bow to you all for being some of the best writers, poets, storytellers, creatives and visionaries on Steemit. Wishing all of you continued success and abundance in the PDC and all your endeavors.

My entry is here! I've never tried this before, but @clayboyn brought my attention to it. Hopefully I understood the criteria/rules and didn't miss anything or write something that ends up being ineligible.

This is very well written, @breezin, you are an amazing storyteller. I could see the place of old, I could feel the place, it just flowed, the words, the rhythm, and the tempo are masterful.
