Returning To My Trueness ~ Journal Entry #3 ~ Ren The Poet
A part of returning to my trueness is realizing that I not only have a passion to write
But also as I press pause I notice how my work as a poet has changed.
No matter what happens in my life from day to day, the one constant is I have to write.
It's an extension of who I am. It's therapeutic and somewhat a documentation of my journey
and my times on planet earth.
I don't follow a theme I follow what connects to me and makes an impression or an imprint
What calls to me, what makes me cry, sigh, dance or get up and take action.

Sometimes my writing prompt is a color, a word, an experience. In other words, as life happens around me I write.

There are also many days where I just follow where my Spirit and Soul leads me and I write as a witness to all the beauty and awe that my eyes behold and that my mind can comprehend.

And then there are times when I write as a messenger, a voice to all who are meant to lay eyes on the words that I have placed on paper and I do so with the intention that the messages will be medicine and it makes it to those that need it most and I pray that they stop, listen and hear.

As of late, I have noticed that my preparation process to write poetry takes more time. I approach each new poetry creation as if I am working on an art masterpiece. (Because I Am.) All the parts of the story I want to tell have to be in place. The timing, the rhythm, the tone, and the imagery must all connect. And I feel my way through many rewrites and reading the piece over and over again.
I am emerging deeper into my work which I believe speaks to the quality of the work and my intention and my dream, which is to not just bring enjoyment to the reader but in some way help them,to convey a timely message, move them, to provoke them to think, contemplate, to wonder or imagine, to move on or move forward or retrace their journey to reiterate something that they may have overlooked or because they needed to go back down memory lane to experience something again yet experience it anew.

An interesting look inside your process. Thanks for sharing it. I find I write from around 4 different spaces. I have named them according to the times of day - morning, midday - insomnia and one more space which isn't a time of day, but one rooted in social critique or observation of farce. The last is perhaps the most cynical and often satirical, of all, but the other 'spaces' are not always spared of that cynicism.
Your process is very interesting thank you for sharing your process @trumanity. I just read a couple of your poems.This stanza made me swoon:
Here resting on our fingertips, a precious chord of life
An old mind, a new heart; how we have erred sometimes
feigned unripe insights, tugged and muddied comprehension
ripped chasms thoughtlessly that near consumed our journey.
