Day 9 of 365 in a Newborn Baby's Life - Hip Dysplasia

This is a new photo series dedicated to the first year of my daughter's life.

Day 9 of 365:

Taken with my Sony A7RM2 with a 90mm macro by @runrudy

Today, I wanted to share this image of her leg in a brace. When born, she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. It is common for babies that were born breech. She has to wear a body brace for three months to help stabilize her hip. Luckily, our doctor caught it early and the chances that this treatment works is very high. We just have to help her through these next 3 months. She hates the brace and it makes me really sad/angry to see her in it. I know she is uncomfortable in it and sometimes I just want to tear it off. We have an appointment today with the orthopedic surgeon to get an update on her progress. We are hopeful that the treatment is working and she can avoid surgery. Whatever the result we are optimistic that she will still have a full healthy life. If anyone else has been through this with their kids or family. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

Here's the daily portrait for future timelapse:

Beautiful pictures as always. I hope those three months will pass fast - I am sure she will be fine though :)

I wish you the best, good sir.

Yes, 3 months is quick. We are not too worried. We are doing what we need to do and will face what ever hurdle maybe next. Thanks sjennon.

poor girl
I hope she gets better
how do they get it?
I'm sorry for how you feel
I hope it gets better soon

Thanks Rivy,

It is called hip dysplasia. It happens to about 1:1000 kids. Babies that are breech get it common. Genetically it happens most to girls. Because she was a breech bay her hip joint didn't develop properly. Almost like dislocated.
She has a mild case of it. We wen to the orthopedic doc last week and it is getting better with the brace. The brace holds her legs apart so that hip joint is kinda held together like a cast. She just has to wear it for 3 months. We take it off for 15 mins for bath time. You can tell that she likes it off. 3 months will go by fast. Tough now but it is lucky our doctor caught it early. She has a high percentage +80% of full recovery/normal hip. Thanks!

cute baby
Keep spirit to help her through these next 3 months.

Thank you @muftykutink. She is good. This process is harder on the parents than the child. : )

Yup, I think like that
Be patient ok :)
