Sunday picnic at a Nature Reserve!

We had a family visit from Marian's sister and their family and it was also the little boy Jadon's birthday and so we decided to spend the morning with them at the Helderberg Nature Reserve.
But enough talking, rather let me show you this wonderful place!
Here we had the family arriving at the picnic spot!
Soon everyone was settled and the eats and drinks came out!
I am not much of a talker and I decided that Marian needed some free time with her family, as they live far away and don't see each other often. A perfect excuse for me to grab my camera and to embark on a long walking trail.
The photo above is of the information center!
This is known as the Helderberg mountain and the nature reserve is situated all along the bottom!

I walked up on the lower slopes of the mountain and this was the view.
Below I saw a dam and went to inspect it!
This is the view across the far end of the dam!
Then it was back up to a higher spot on the mountain.
How's this for a view of the sea with the mountain ridge running into the ocean!
And finally, this truth greeted me on my way back to the picnic!
It was really a great time to be had by all and we will definitely return to this reserve, as there is much that we haven't seen. The air is crispy clear and only birdsong breaks the silence.
A place of tranquility where one can walk for miles alone and I must have easily covered 3 or 4 kilometers.
To dream and to pray in the high places is absolutely invigorating!

Little Olivia is a very studious girl and doesn't like to be interrupted in her work by a crazy uncle with a camera of all things hahaha.
Glad to hear that your weather is improving and it will be our turn for winter soon. Fortunately I like winter. Thank you also for wishing Jadon and he was impressed when I allowed him to lead me on a walk around the dam.
The views also fascinate me.

A wonderful place to have a holiday picnic. The scenery is amazing. How nice that you and your family had a great time there.

I think it was the first time this year that we had a picnic with some of Marian's family.
My own family are all gone and I only have one elder sister left that stays far away.

Being less often you spend time with them only makes those times more special,
All of my side of the family is back in NZ and since I cannot travel back there I do miss the time with them, but its just somehting i have to accept
