Impressions of H O N G K O N G - a journey, through my lens (PART2)
This is PART 2 of a series of photos I put together to give you an impression of the great variety of landscapes and experiences Hong Kong has to offer.
If you wish to see the first blog, click here: Impressions of HONG KONG - Part 1.
I hope this collection of photos awakens memories/emotions of former travels you may have had in Asia or other, or simply gives you the desire to get out there and discover more of what the Earth has to offer.

Hong Kong has over 7840 high-rise buildings! 1303 of which are skyscrapers standing taller than 100 meters, with 316 buildings over 150 meters. Not a great city for acrophobics :( It does take some getting used to, but I must admit, even after living there for a few years, I would still get a bit dizzy when stepping too close to the edge of windows.

- Gathering of family and friends.
- Praying (asking for conceptual or material favours) such as for a spouse, a baby, beauty, longevity...
- Thanksgiving, to give thanks for the harvest, or for harmonious unions.

Monks making their way to Po Lin Monastery. The statue you see in the background is the huge Tian Tan statue, also known as the Big Buddha, located on Lantau island. It is possible to climb the 268 steps to take a closer look at the bronze statue, and enjoy the mountain and sea views.

Speaks for itself :) Can't help but giggle every time I walk near this apartment building found on Kowloon peninsula.

Bird cages piled on top of each other in HK's famous Bird Market, also known as Yuen Po Bird Garden. You will often see older men sitting next to their caged birds in this park. They hang the cage from a tree branch, and together with their fellow bird-owners partake in card games or simply chat while showing off their bird's singing skills. A little cruel some may say, but it's a tradition, so... yeah...

Happy Valley Cemetery - one of the earliest Christian cemeteries in HK, dating to its colonial era beginning in 1845.

Hong Kong's giant "Chicken Coop". As of mid-2014, HK's population was at 7.24 million, making it one of the highest populated cities in the world. Pretty wild considering that less than a third of the territory is urbanized!
![BigBuddha.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmeceQJAfjTQ3UBEEDVgJos1RH2P36KesbNQqoYNgpeYMb/BigBuddha.jpg)
And last but not least, a photo of me and my lame attempt to tickle the Big Buddha's back.
