Steemit photo challenge #63 (SPC63), "Landscape", Entry #3: Lahti (Panorama)

in #photography6 years ago

Hello again everyone!

Last night, when I was shooting for my 365-project, I also shot 5 extras, and stitched them into this nice Panorama of our town. This will be my 3rd and final submission for the "Landscape" theme on the SPC #63.

Lahti skyline panorama
Hometown night panorama, looks lovely!

Camera body: Canon EOS 550D
Lens: Super Carenar MC 1:2.8 ƒ=35
Aperture: ƒ/11
Exposure: 15 s
ISO: Dual-ISO 100+200

It was shot towards East from this bridge of Myllysaari.

I really love night photography, and especially long exposure panoramas. They are kind of fun. :)

Anyhow, hope you like it!

See ya guys! :)

@gamer00,
How can we participate this photo challenge? I am interesting to join! Excellent panorama photography friend!

Cheers~

Thanks! :)

@gamer00,
Thank you very much! I am checking that post and hope to join this contest! Really appreciate your help!

Cheers~

That looks surprisingly good. Did you take few pictures with long exposure and merge them together or what?

(sorry I may have posted this twice)

Thanks, and yeah each of the 5 photos took 15 seconds to shoot, then I stitched them together in Hugin. Nifty little software, that.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have tried to use photoshop but the end result tends to be shit in most cases because I have to do everything manually...

What software do you generally use for photo processing? Photoshop? Lightroom?

Both but mostly just Photoshop. I am used to it so it's easy for me to use. Oh and I can also manipulate everything I want which is great. For example, I painted the light coming from these lightbulbs in this picture and added the glow to the nearby objects. https://steemit.com/landscapephotography/@dromzz/sunset-from-100-meter-high-tower

I use mainly Darktable, it's a software similar to Lightroom (the play on the name suggests as much yea), but it's free and doesn't lag hugely behind Lightroom on functionality either. They are both blackroom ("film developing") softwares.

Anyway as I can't do everything in Darktable, I did something similar to what you did, to a candle light using Gimp:

Candle Lanterns
Candle Lanterns, OPED #170

This is something I find I very rarely need to do because after all, when shooting the photos, I make sure I don't have to sit too long in front of the computer post-processing the stuff. Sometimes it just doesn't work and I need to bust my ass off trying to clean some forgotten background haze off the image. ;)

On varmaan ollu hauskaa :D

Koneella oon jo tehny suunnilleen 8 pitkän matikan koetta. Muuten ihan kätevää kun laskinta on nopeempi käyttää koneella, mutta heti kun pitää jotain piirtää niin menee mahdottomaksi. Saa nähdä mitenkä se YO-koe menee tämmösenä "testiryhmänä".

I might give Darktable a try tomorrow.

But Gimp. I never want to touch it again. I just absolutely hate it and it doesn't help that I had to use it in one math exam. I just ended up wasting time instead of getting anything done.

I can guess what happened.

Yes, whenever you need to do something, always use tools you already know how to use, don't learn new tool while you should be doing something productive. Gimp is good, but only if you already know how to use it. Otherwise I can relate to your frustration.

Disclaimer: I once tried using LaTeX for my thesis.

Awesome shot, we can clearly see that you take your frame with great passion and fervor, so cool, thank for you hard work and keep your dedication, best luck @gamer00 is late night here, let me get some sleep :D, the last time I ask how many frame u take haha now i see u take 5 this time

Did you do magic? It can't be real :) Where did you find this photo? Joking apart, It is realy so great, I like it so much. Congrats!

That is just the right amount of light in the sky to give it some mystery. Nice one.

Nice photo, it is much easier to see once it opens large on Flicker. Good job stitching 5 shots together, this is a skill I have not learned. Best luck in the contest!

Thank you! :)

For stitching panoramas, there's this nifty software called Hugin, it's pretty straightforward. I've used it for all my panoramas since over five years ago. I suggest testing taking a couple just for the gist of it, I assure you it's a lot of fun to shoot panoramas.

Cool, I'll check that out. I have exactly one pano I like, and I don't know how it did it, and have had no luck since!

This is a wonderful sight. Panoramas make sense when properly used. I had to delete some panorama pictures from my phone because it didn't look nice for a selfie but this is just perfect..

Hello from me sleeping on the chair :d
Hmmm. It's a bit darker than the yesterday's ones. But I think it's better this way.

Thanks! I was pretty bummed out when I noticed it myself. I should've paid more attention to the exposure setting on this one against the others. But if you say it's okay, I guess I worried for nothing.

Better go to bed if you are tired. :)

I'm curious if the waters of Lahti are polluted and if you can fish there.
I love fishing sometimes when happens to be a beer day (I don't drink too much so when I decide to drink it can be counted as a holiday).

In the 70's Vesijärvi was literally a shitpond. It has since been cleaned up, and people can even fish there now. :)

Drink responsibly and don't drink and steem, especially when fishing!

I always drink when I steem. But it's tea :DD

Vesijärvi is one of the most studied lakes in the world thanks to Helsinki University limnologists being based in Lahti.

You should teach us how to take photo! It is very fascinating view, good work :)
