Almost Peed My Pants Riding The Cable Car To Heaven

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Have you ever done something you know would probably feel like self torture? That's what riding a cable car to me is like. My first cable car ride was in Tirol, Austria and I froze the whole ride through. My teeth gritted at the sound of metal rubbing against each other each time the egg passes through the pillar. That one was not even as long as this one so please bear with my blabbin' if you decide to click that vid below.

Btw, the original vid I took was 22 mins long so I spliced it and just showed you a few clips.

So, you've watched the vlog? Thank you, here's a lil' more something for a bonus.

We've done this before and I hope you're still not tired of it. It's not much but we all know every cent counts these days so 5% up to the first ones who could answer each question below. Please answer just one question so the others can have their chances, too. You may answer just one question to make it fair.

  • How high was this heaven I went to?
  • What did I do to calm myself down?
  • What did I bring to eat up there?
  • Why did I bring that with me?
  • Which of my two ears went temporarily deaf after Shrekfeld?
  • How long did that cable car ride to heaven actually take?

So, you're asking what that heaven up there looks like ? Well, pretty much like this.

So, it's worth all the self - torture eh? Let me just clarify something, am not a masochist. I wouldn't even put up to spanking when we were being disciplined as kids. So why go through the thrill? I like conquering my fears, well ... most of it. There's a certain feeling of satisfaction when I get to do or finish something my body and mind fight me from doing. I bet you can relate, 'ey?

Anyway, this is what I came here for.

a2.jpg

Shallow? Maybe to you, but you see, I came from the tropics and seeing the ice capped Alps has always been in my bucket list! Yeah, yeah, mountains are mountains but they're not all the same whether you like it or not! Ask any Asian and they'll tell you the same. Fine, just ask anyone from "Flat Land" but prepare for their gusto in expressing how they feel when you do.

a1.jpg

The Alps ... it is just so ~~~.. majestic! It's a bit overwhelming standing closer to it. Makes you wonder, what it would be like going up one of those tops, climbing on them ice caps. I'd probably have blueberry colored lips cause the wind was even chilly on that sun shiny day.

If you happen to go there some time in summer, in the future and the weekly weather forecast says it's going to be sunny there and warmer than 25 degree celcius, bring a knitwear or a spring coat in your backpack if you decide to go up 1K meter more! It's brrrr~~ cold up there, even on the day it hit 30 degree celcius!

For some reasons, everyone seems unusually amicable, happy and excited up there, though. A lot of people were gushing and giggling up there. It really felt like "heaven".

These two waterfalls, I got them on the original vid, too but they look tiny on it so I trimmed it.

Btw, I didn't get to eat my bread up there because the top actually has a resto and a souvenir shop. I was even surprised to find ramen up there. I opted for a healthier option though something I think my stomach could handle while my husband had fries and chicken nuggets which I did again, covet. I had to take my salad with chamomile tea can you guess why?

c.jpg

Tea and everything edible cost much up there in that heaven but mind you, it's still considerably "fairly priced" compared to the other places we went to. I guess, I just can't help comparing the price after coming from extra generous Germany.

While we were eating, a huge number of Koreans happened to suddenly appear - that explains the ramen, I guess. Yes, I admit to pulling off a few conversations with them after finishing my meal, just because - curious much, they're quite a lot, plus I haven't practiced my Hangul orally for a very long time.

Oh, if you're from the EU and you're planning to visit any place in Switzerland, make sure to have their money cause I paid with Euro and their conversion is - one is to one. Every shop in the places we went to, do that. We used a debit card to pay for this meal though.

c1.jpg

In Flat Land, I'd probably pay 6 to 8 euro for this salad but here, it costs twice. Almost everything we bought there cost twice compared to NL, DE, BE and Austria.

Oh well, this is but one of those fun, adrenaline rush kick fulfilling experiences I had when I was in Grindelwald, Switzerland. I wasn't the only one going gaga there, aside from so many Asians, crows were hovering above the smoking area and some were even getting fed by some amazed visitors, too so if you decide to eat outside, watch your plate. Crows won't grab your food like gulls do, though. They'd just try to stand close to you and look you in the eye as if they're trying to hypnotize you into feeding them. Mind you, it works to some.

So .. You, where and what was your scariest cable ride like? Was it worth it? Why?

This content's 100% mine . I took some of the pics with my D Eye and made and edited the vid with my smartphone. Don't like reading? Watch video in my VLOG instead.

Awesome captured @englishtchrivy ..my experience of riding was when small boy I fear none, in fact mountain is always my things to clamp... One big mountain which I clamp last was like that Kilimanjaro hehehe jk... This mountain is too high on my way coming down I had no idea the foot path .. although there are cultural stuff attached to this which I never knew I started clamped with few friends.... So I don't think I could that panic to ride this hehehe... But honestly if ones doesn't scared that means he/she is brave enough..... Its really fun and scared some to ride heaven, I think that is how it is..

Those shots are beautiful..

You are welcome.

Hahaaaa now i know how i looked when climbed to the top of the mountain by cable car in Carpathians 😁😂😂😂🤣🤣. I really understand you, it's very scary...

It was especially frightening when I saw a video on the internet where the rope was torn off and people started to drop out of the seats at the speed.... Omg... 😱😱😱😱

that's why I don't watch such videos
they would make you think of them when you're doing it
I want to enjoy when I look back and reach the top
I actually want to challenge some on my post
but I didn't write it anymore
to dare someone to take the cable car up there - alone :D

Hahaaaa it would be a very scary challenge 😁😁😁.

"No, no, no, no, no, I'm not scared k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k..." :-)

This is really cute. Let me tell you, my wife is the same way, even in the car driving over mountains. I always have a bottle of cognac with; filling her up with a few shots helps, as the giggles get stronger than the fear.

Would it help to tell you that cable cars are one of the safest means of transportation?

Anyway, wonderful video, like being along for the ride. Lovely comments, and great photos in the post, as always.

"I'm zen. I can see the ground... (...coming at me really, really fast?)"

So, will we be seeing you vlogging from a zipline soon?

thanks for watching the whole vid
embarrassed much kkk ...

Imho most of us are like that
and we automatically giggle to hide the fear :D

it's a very safe one, yes am very much aware
but it's that fear of heights that eats you going up hahaha

there were a lot of activities up there actually
so we'll see
unfortunately, our VI just won't let us post daily anymore huh
you still in Sicily or also back?
btw, you don't look like 60 (if I remember it right on your previous comments) or was it not you on your vid wolf?

thanks for watching the whole vid

Wouldn't miss it for the world.

still in Sicily or also back?

No, unfortunately not. All that Italy stuff is from the end of May. I just got so much of it, it takes time to put together.

don't look like 60

The handsome Mafioso ;-) at the wheel is my friend Francesco who needs a little promo help with his tour business. He'll embed the video on his website, so he's featured prominently.

I'm the much handsomer ;-) corpse seen from afar next to the 4x4 on the passenger side. I don't look like 60, more like between 80 and decomp. Not bad for a corpse.

Jest yu-se yourr immadginashionne!

thank you!

yeah, I understand you
who works and take a vacay at the same time
unless - one's trading which can't really be considered work :D

please be kind to yourself
please don't use corpse to describe yourself :p

more or less you don't look like that at all
Ay downt beliv yow ~~~

sorry for the late reply
was busy IRL, too :D

You brought bread to eat, but didn't eat it.
You drank Chamomile tea to calm you.

Congratulations: you challenged your inner fears and took the ride up. It is exhilarating. The entire atmosphere changes as you go up, especially when you are over the tree line.

thank you

you're but right on the bread
as for the Chamomile
it's to calm my stomach down
when I get bloody nervous
that part of my body reacts the most haha

yes, true blue

The way to heaven should not be easy. Lol

haha...
good thing there's no need to go through a needle's hole there :)

Such a wonderful place to visit.
I've never been in a cable car but I have to try it, definitely.
You don't look scared at all; the strong teacher teaching how to defeat the own fears.
I've to learn to embed the videos like you do; maybe I'll start using Vimeo besides Dtube.

thanks
but I was freakin out deep inside :D

I actually tried using utube but the vid quality wasn't good
so I switched to vimeo
it doesn't seem to change there
hmm.. maybe a bit
but it's also cause I just used my phone cam
must be better if I use a different cam

I hope you get to ride your cable car soon!
am glad to see you btw!
