Welcome to The Curator, Issue Two - Photography

Capturing that precious moment in time to share with loved ones, holds many memories of happy, sad, times of achievement that our lives have encountered during our journey in time.

“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” ― Susan Sontag
With Photography being the top tag in Steemit at the time of writing this post, many Steemians sharing their homeland, travels, food, landscapes, culture, so much more that many posts get hidden in the serge of posts in the photography tag. The task of finding undervalued content was really hard in a way as how do you put a value on content when Everyone's quality is so Fabulous!

This is an older post that we absolutely adored when we saw it, but we didn't have time to add it the first issue of The Curator.

There's something that puts a smile on your face when you see photo's of things that are attached to milestones or achievements even if you don't know the person. This photograph that @ilovedietcoke captured with the light shinning thru the wedding dress shows an element of joy to see the full photograph and the story behind the photograph, as we have added a boarder here as it's a featured post, check it out here!

Don't forget if you like the photograph to show @ilovedietcoke some support.

This Thumbnail doesn't do the captured photography by @alexrickard86 any justice as it got really stretched when doing the thumbnail. The photograph gives you an intrigued view into the stores Roman Fortezza in Rethymno, Crete. To see the full photograph in all it's glory and the story behind it here. @alexrickard86
“When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and white, you photograph their souls!” - Ted Grant

The thumbnails don't really do justice to any of the photographs, your best to check out each photograph to see the amazing quality of them.

The photographs used in The Curator are not our own, we have linked them back to there owners, we are a magazine trying to help curators (content writers) on Steemit share their fabulous content, we spend hours scanning Steemit for knowledgeable undervalued posts, when we have pick some, we spend hours making thumbnails and editing to present something you will come back to time after time to find knowledgeable posts.

Cover Picture Source - added text to cover!

Let us know down below With this being only the second issue of The Curator how do you like this layout compared to issue one?

made by @justcallmemyth grab your's here!

Thank you for reading my post, really appreciate it - Have a Fabulous Day/Evening!

I really like this layout a lot better. I've been looking really hard at it to give ideas of improvement. You didn't ask for me to come over here and look at it just to say GOOD JOB! Looks Great!

Here are my suggestions:

  • Wrap thumbnails in words like this:
  • Clickable thumbnails.
  • Is there a markdown code for when someone clicks on a link that it opens up in a new window instead of leaving your story post?(something I have been meaning to look up myself, lol.)
  • Place the source for the top picture right before your signature.
  • Avoid the font in the very top picture for "Everyday Joes". Almost looks like "Everyday Does". (At least it did for me).

Ok, now that you will probably never invite me again to look at the Curator, lol... I will go and contemplate on whether I should delete this message.

I really do think it looks spectacular.

Thank you so much,
So a bit to work on, so put the thumbnails to the right and wrap, that looks nice, it's just weather my coding skills can reach that far.
Yes forgot to do the clickable tumbnails today, will try to remember for next issue.
I tried to putting the code in the links so they open up in a new window, but I dragged in from wordpress, so it's not working for some reason.
The Everyday Joes change the font or ditch it?
got it top pic source above signature.
Thank you we'll have to remember all this.
Of course we will still invite you back, really like your input Thank you so much for it

You don't have to necessarily move the thumbnails to the right, but wrapping them looks awesome.

I liked the "Every Day Joe" Font a lot. It was just the J part of it. Maybe you can find a similar looking Font and replace only the J so it doesn't look so much like a d.

You are very welcome. I am glad I will be invited back, lol.

I think to wrap them I'll have to write more defiantly something to play with on the next issue.

Will fix the J so it doesn't look like a d, as when I'm doing a new subject I'll need to make up the cover, not surer if will be using the same picture each time to keep it fresh. We'll just see, as I'm noticing it's a bit of work to make it pretty, as I don't normally do pretty.

I was thinking the J fix would not be so hard because you would be doing new subject photos each issue.

Yes, it does take work for pretty. @merej99 is all about formatting and we talk about it quite often. She says the formatting to look pretty part can take longer than the actual writing. It's something I have been working on myself.

One day we will be Steemit blogging pros.

It will be an easy fix.

Agree formatting pretty takes longer than writing at times, and when your not good at it, it takes a while longer.
All part of the learning curve.

lol not surer, as long as it takes quicker each time and it looks a little better each time is good for me.

it looks a little better each time is good for me.

That is key. If we improve a little each time imagine how awesome we will be in a year from now!

hopefully better than we started lol.

A great post some real awesome photogaphs there some I follow but not a couple so will go check them out being as I primarily post photos I like seeing the amazing work shared here it is inspiring

Thank you @tattodjay, they are fabulous photographs, it's hard to choose what went into this issue as there is so many great photographs on Steemit. Unfortunately the thumbnails don't do the photographs any justice, as we stretch them when making them. Thank you for checking out some of the posts on here.

my Pleasure to check them, photography is my hobby well more of a passion so always love seeing other peoples work :)

Your Photographs are amazing, have seen some before, there was a few Kiwi posts I was looking for but could find, your one I remember was the winter shot that was fabulous.
If your on Steemit chat there is teamnewzealand on there also.

Thanks kindly I think I have come across a couple of kiwis on here still a kiwi at heart and always will be even though I haven't lived there for 30 years

I hardly go into chat but may have to check it out

Thanks kindly

There's a few of us here, we seem to be multiplying which is good.
Time for a visit home, it defiantly has changed in the last 30 years.

I used to go home every year or two, but last trip was maybe 5 years ago, one of the down sides of my travels I got unlucky with a couple of things and have weak lungs now after TB, all treated and OK now other than a third of my lung capacity gone so flying and me dont get on well now last few flights I did I got back bronchitis and pr Pneumonia and was off sick for a week or so, so now I stay on the ground and no long flights for me

That's not good, There's been a few outbreaks of some nasty stuff in the last 5 - 10 years. Sad that you can't fly now would a cruise affect it also?

One of the problems here is also that many people here think that posting a photo isn't hard work at all, they don't take into consideration that you put lot of time and effort in capturing and editing them, and you are completely right tumbernails are awful. Great post!

Anything is easy when your a passenger or back seat driver, but being in the driver seat is a totally different story.
I find it hard on the phones to take a picture let alone trying to work one of the big cameras a few have here.
Thanks for stopping by

Well. All I can say, is. I love it. Everything about this article is fabulous. Well done, indeed.

Hopefully we'll get better each issue, I'm quite chuffed with this post, but always room for improvement.
Just have to think what subject to do for the next issue.

WOW! Thank you for featuring my photo!

Thank you, you have amazing photo's

Hey there Biglips! I just wanted to commend you with what you're doing on here with your curating magazine. With all our conversation back and forth I'm really impressed with you. Thanks for choosing my article "island tour" for the next issue. If you do a food magazine, I just posted my best food related post by far. It's a whole in depth look into Thai food, highly informative, how to order, even how to say no MSG in Thai! I think you'll like it.

Hope you are well. -Dan

Thanks Dan, really appreciate your lovely feedback.
Will be over to have a look at your food post, the next one on the list to do is homesteading, not surer which topic is next yet.

Yes, I see you just did a food post. Should have seen that before mentioning anything. All good! I'm enjoying steemit way more now. Even thinking seriously of going to steemfest Lisbon, Portugal.

Hey thee. I just did a post thanking all those who've helped me a long the way. Obviously you a big mention, with a link back to your latest the curator project.

Here's the link the article. Thank you!
