MY STYLE - A strategy guide for the #photogames “Who Took It Wednesday” game

in #photogames6 years ago

Today the main game is happening on @photogames, but I have my own little game that we can play which will assist you in playing “Who Took It Wednesday:”

THE @PHOTOGAMES MAIN GAME
The game over on @photogames is to match the images with the Photostars who took them. This requires you to get a feel for all of our looks/styles. Some of the other Photostars are doing posts like mine, so go to their accounts to see if they have one, or just look through their images and see if there are any hints.

The Who Took It Wednesday post on @photogames is here

MY MINI-GAME

This game could help you in the main game.
Take a look at the pictures in this post and write a 1-2 sentence description of “MY STYLE”

Rule for my MINI-GAME

  • Upvote this post and the main post on @photogames
  • Take a look at the pictures in this post and write a 1-2 sentence description of “MY STYLE”. I will consider only good description, so everything like "Hey, great shot" will be appreciated, but not considered for the game.

Prize

For each submission in the comments of this post I will answer with a quote that maybe can help you to identify my shot in the main game. But there is a twist, the quote can be helpful or take you on the wrong way depending on how better I think it fit with my style and me.
Reminder: I don't know who took each shots on the main game, but I know only which one is mine.

WELCOME TO A TOUR OF MY STYLE

Who Took It Wednesday
I started taking pictures while traveling and soon it began a passion that I still have today ...

Who Took It Wednesday
... after a while I started to plan my trips in relation to my passion for photography ...

Who Took It Wednesday
... and taking more pictures at sunset ...

Who Took It Wednesday
... or during the blue hour ...

Who Took It Wednesday
... until kids changed everything, in my life and in my photography. Now I take a lot more portraits than before, but from time to time ...

Who Took It Wednesday
... I still like to experiment something new :)

Clever way of giving out hints (or not), @asgarth! :D

Thanks @derekkind, let's see what people say and if I can 'help' (mmm...don't trust me here) them ;)

Some things I'm noticing from this post and others from you is that you like natural colours and lean towards sky blues and purples. You don't go for a crunchy contrast or a soft look, but you like to have everything sharp, and you include a bit of the sea whenever possible. Does that sound right? :)

Thanks Derek, sounds right. I lean towards blue and purple sky because not always I'm able to capture the scene at the time I would have liked. And I try not to push my shot too much because in my early days with photography I had some overprocessed shot that now I definitely don't like :)

This is my quote for you:

“Only photograph what you love.”
~Tim Walker

That's wise! Most people, when they start out as a photographer, if they process at all, go crazy win post (myself included, I shudder when I see my older work), and gradually return to a more natural state. :)

Thanks for the quote! Now I have to decide if it's a helpful one or not. ;)

Like @derekkind you like what some may call natural colors... perhaps a bit less saturation than say... myself. But the color set does stay pretty consistent even if I don't really have a way of verbally describing it.
You don't shy away from mid-day lighting and I can tell pictures are yours if they seem really European ;) haha

You're frequently very particular about rule of thirds placement... but not all the time.

Thanks Scott, I appreciate your feedback. I don't shy away from mid-day because sometimes that's my only chance to get the shoot :D

This is my quote for you:

"Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
~John Muir

Hey @asgarth, I remember your great shots from some photo contests. I just get more and more confused after reading a few style posts from the photo stars!

For me, your photos feel raw, natural and earthy. You leave the subjects natural beauty shine through with not needing to over edit. You achieve wonderful perspectives, you focus on details and I love the essence you capture in your candid shots!

Thanks @jayclar30!! Remind to upvote this post and the post from @photogames to have a quote in the answers ;)

Oh yes thank you... I usually do. Thanks for the reminder!! : )
And... you're most welcome!

This is my quote for you :)

“The camera is an excuse to be someplace you otherwise don’t belong. It gives me both a point of connection and a point of separation.”
~Susan Meiselas

I like that!! Thank you : )

Well, first of all. Kids change everything always!
I have to agree with what everyone else already said. You are very true to colours, very clean and perfectionist in your composition too. I like how you don't over process your images.

Thanks Gabriela. This is my quote for you:

“I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them.”
~Diane Arbus
