A Cat Please Mommy. Ooh, I Want This Fish!!! || Bingung Pilih Yang Mana
My sons been begging for us to have a pet at home for the last 3 years now. From puppies, cats, hamsters, bunnies, to baby monkey (yeah, my 4 yo truly loves baby monkey! 😂).
Unfortunately, many rental places do not allow pets. The ones that do, the pet deposit is pretty steep, almost as half if not the same of a half month rent deposit. The average 2 duplex bedrooms in this town when we just moved here was around $1700ish. So yeah, crazy high. So we never could have a pet.
Not to mention, they are just too young to give responsibility for cleaning litter box, for example, without really worrying whether they could handle it properly so they won't risk their own health. I know, I know, I'm a helicopter mommy, I don't care, I don't mind. I love my littles too much 😁
So, the solution was....fish tank. Huge beautiful filled fish tank I must say. Expensive idea. It only lasted for a month. No, none of our faults, I think we were duped by the people who sold them to us, long story short.
It was a bad buy. We couldn't pet fishes anyways. This was in 2014, though.
Now that they are bigger, they ask for a pet more and more, and when the neighbors cats keep showing up, scratching the car hood or peeing and pooping in the backyard AND our front door, (kids obv. find it funny, not so much for us adults), the beg of please mommy, please apu (Hungarian word for dad) are at least 3-4 times a week 😅
Yesterday when my oldest and his father were still at the cinema. I took my 4 yo to Petland (right next to Dollarstore). Somehow I had a feeling it would be a nightmare of please mommy, but we actually had a very lovely time.

He shrieked, he giggled, he ran around in excitement from one glass window to another, and his "awwww, soooo cute, mommy, look", words were blurted tons of times 😂😂😂😂
He liked the birds, the cats, the bunnies, etc. and he wanted to buy all the fishes in the tanks especially the beta fishes in glass jars.
So many babies too, but no kitties nor puppies.
On the way out he said he's gonna return there (today). When we were reunited with the father and brother, my gosh, he had so many stories to share them that his brother wanted to go to Petland as well, but it was already evening, so we really had to return to the hotel.

Kemarin kami ke toko yang menjual beragam binatang serta pakan, kerangkeng, dll. Anakku yang 4 tahun gembira sekali.
Selama ini kedua anakku selalu menghiba 😂 Mereka amat sangat ingin memiliki hewan piaran, terutama bayi kera 🤦 Aneh-aneh aja 😂
Karena di LN ga bisa asal punya piaraan, kami harus bawa ke dokter sebulan sekali lah, harus di kasih gantungan nama lah, harus registrasi ke pemerintah lah, ribet. Belum lagi muahaaal banget. 1 anak kucing aja sekitar $200-$400. Di samping itu, kalau kita ngontrak rumah, kita pun wajib bayar ke yang punya rumah, lah? 😂 Ribet habis dah kalau mau punya piaraan di Kanada. Ga seperti di Indo, banyak kucing dan anjing keliaran, bisa kita ambil bawa pulang 😂
Anak2pun masih susah mau dikasih tanggung jawab, misalnya bersihin tinja binatang, yeeee jorok ah 😅
Kemarin pas kami ke toko hewan, ya ampun si percil terkesima dan heboh sendiri deh. Bingung dia, banyak hewan, dan semua mau dibawa pulang 😅
Gimana yak kalau di bawa ke pasar burung di Yogyakarta, pasti tambah jingkrak2 dia 😂

Did you think about a tiny turtle? They are not expensive and easy to handle dough not all children love them since they are not cute and cuddly lol
We've always wanted turtles, but here the cheapest ones start from $196!
Differ pet store(s) even higher 😅
WOW! They are not so expensive here :) Dogs and cats cost the most money at my place, and some snakes and lizard. Bunnies and turtles are ok with their price.
I hope he likes a pet enough to keep looking after it after the novelty has worn off and cleaning the litter box/cage is a right chore rather than something new and interesting to do XD
