The Orvium network is a peer to peer blockchain publication that is fully decentralized and aims to fix the problem with data life cycles. Publishing scientific data is one of the most profitable markets in the world, which in 2015 reached $25Billion.
Currently, the market is dominated by a few centralized players including Google, Amazon, and Apple. There are many problems in the current market that revolve around the creators and so Orvium aims to bring back more control to these creators. Orvium wants to make publishing scientific work easier and allow the community to reap the benefits of the amazing work provided.

In the current market of scientific information, there are extremely high costs to access the information, a lack of transparency, no link to research and data, and the work is not always recognized. Currently, scientists that are creating these papers have run into costs of $3000-$5000 per publication and it can cost even more for less recognized publishers. This has created a market where the barrier to entry is high and certainly hurts innovation as people with great minds are pushed away from the high costs.
Peer reviewers exist to check work that is submitted which is not transparent and often times lead to biases that the reviewer has. This process can also be costly and can push creators away from publishing. The reviewers have a lot of power over the publications and so sometimes their power can be abused, and since there is a central point of failure in this it can easily be exploited by the reviewer.

Orvium plans on solving the expensive cost problems by not basing the costs on one entity. Since Orvium is decentralized it can cut the middleman costs and allow publications to be posted with very minimal costs that will be operational. This will allow more people to enter the market and publish their ideas without worrying about unreasonable fees. Innovation should be pushed forward and not held back. Reviewing publications is very hard on a decentralized platform but Orvium believes they have the solution. A continuously evolving community of reviewers will be able to look at the publications and edit them together so that one person does not have the centralized control. Science changes daily and publications can be irrelevant or wrong based on new findings, and so the publications will always be in a loop of reviewing and will never be completely finalized. This will make sure that contributors are continuously looking at their work and willing to update it. These reviewers will earn a reputation based on their job and will be paid with the native token (ORV) so that they are a part of the ecosystem. Everything that is submitted on the blockchain will be saved and so all traces of the work will be accounted for and available to look up. This allows for people to see the first submission, revisions, rejected reviews, copyright changes, and other changes.
