"Oil Egoism"
I've been reading Poor People by William Vollman, and inside he has a nice little turn of phrase;"Oil Egoism", that he picked up from somewhere, but basically it's the greedy assertion that it's worth it to pollute the entire world for the addictive purpose of extracting a dirty, toxic fuel that is a blight upon the natural world and human health.
It's bad enough we suffered a century of intense pollution because we thought it was the best idea going, but now we're actively pursuing another century when so many other alternatives and solutions are readily available. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink... or maybe better said a jackass... maybe a few you even happen to know.

yes that's the role of the world to control people to use oil in all fields, ignoring the effects of pollution that damage the environment and nature and damage human health.
the power of superpowers conquered oil-producing countries in order to be able to dominate the world.
