I didn't really bother with the Champions League match of Club Brugge which was already played but I will closely follow the 3 European matches of Belgian Teams today...
Union Berlin vs Union SG
Union SG had a bit of a dip with 2 losses and a draw in the league but took the 2-1 win last weekend at home against Eupen playing a solid match. Their defense however hasn't been as strong as it used to be getting 10 goals against in their last 4 matches. They already played Union Berlin in the Group Stage where they played and excellent match away taking the 0-1 win while they lost at home with 0-1. They will be playing with their A-Squad which I see as not as good as they used to be at the start of the season when they faced this team and they possibly also will be without Teuma who picked up an injury and is questionable. I do like the home team who this time won't underestimate Union who I don't see as good as they were the previous time they faced. I kept it simple and took just a 0.25 unit bet on
Union Berlin -0.5 @ 1.763. I also have my eye on an over bet given how less sharp Union SG has been lately but I'll keep that for a potential in-game bet.
Anderlecht vs Villarreal
Anderlecht has improved a lot but they still don't fully have the consistency in their performances both offensively and defensively. They have less than half of the player base value of Villarreal and have a must-win match upcoming in the weekend against a direct opponent to reach playoff 2. I would be surprised not to see close to a full A-Squad though. Villarreal is 6th in the Spanish League and should be the team with more quality overall. A draw for them might not be the end of the world and I'm just going to wait and see how the match looks before possibly taking something.
No Pre-Game Bets
AA Gent vs Basaksehir
AA Gent is 5th in the standings still fighting for a Playoff 1 spot but there is no real doubt who will be fielded as they simply don't have enough player to rotate given the many injuries. They have a relatively good form with a deserved win last weekend against Anderlecht scoring on a distance shot while Anderlecht in the last 15 minutes had to play with 10. The week before they were outplayed away against Brugge with 11 vs 11 while Brugge should have been with 10 after 30 minutes. So they have ok form at home but also nothing spectacular and fatigue might start playing a part. Basaksehir has a bigger player base and should be well-rested. Chadli who is loaned from them to Westerlo said that if Basaksehir is in form that AA Gent stands no chance. They also eliminated Antwerp to qualify for the Europa League final playoff stage while Antwerp for sure could have come out on top. There will be a lot of Turkish fans in the stadion and I don't see AA Gent as big as a favorite as they are. I took 0.2 unis on
Basaksehir +0 @ 3.003 with an eye to possibly take some more in-game or on Basaksehir team total over 0.5.
